Fox News Host Gets Triggered by Historian

Did anybody pretend that other channels don't have millionaire hosts?

Nobody has criticized Tucker Carlson for being a multimillionaire. He's criticized for pretending to be an anti-elitist and making his viewers so mad at atheists, feminists, immigrants, millennials, trans people, college students, pot smokers, vegans, the NFL, Brooklyn witches, and Lena ******* Dunham that they don’t get mad at the people who are actually in charge.

Do you see the difference?

And frankly I don't see the difference.

Unless you think left media has no biases

If you are on a program, why wouldn't you personalize it to that show?
Unless you have evidence of reacting to the same words on a different program differently, accusing him of partisanship is unjustified.

And it isn't about biases - it is about the intentional fake consciousness method being used to distract viewers from important issues and instead go with fake outrage stories: Fox in general, and Tucker in particular have a demonstrated history of not talking about anything negative about Trump or Republicans, even if it is breaking news and definitely relevant to their viewers.

Shocking news

Right news media avoids criticising right politicians.

People scream "This never happened with left media and Obama!"

Everyone else laughs

You can't see the difference between criticizing a TV host for being a multimillionaire and criticizing him for the themes that he chooses to focus on in his programme. Interesting.
Your bias seems to have made you blind.

They don't just avoid criticizing right-wing politicians. They do their utmost to distract their viewers from the important stuff that's going on - Trump's tax cuts for rich people was one example - and spend their air time talking about 'racist trees' instead.
You actually watched the youtube video and didn't notice that?!!

So you didn't watch that and think the bloke was personalising his interview with Carlson and Fox?

Maybe we watched different things

I thought all the "You this and you that" kind of made it kind of obvious

All the "You this and you that" was primarily about Tucker Carlson following in the footsteps of Bill O'Reilly after having analyzed O'Reilly's (rather obvious) strategy as a Fox host and now doing the exact same thing himself. (Well, not the exact same thing in every instance: Bill O'Reilly didn't avoid on-the-air confrontations with his critics the way Tucker Carlson seems to do.)

Yes I did

I watched a dude troll a dumb right wing journalist, who got triggered, over him specifically being accused of being a millionaire pawn used by billionaires on Fox specifically and zero about the rest of the things brought up in the last few posts criticising Republican TV inc

If you want to point out where he raises all the other actual issues, feel free to share

I already did! With quotations! In post 75 and post 94.

ETA: Tucker Carlson is not "a millionaire pawn used by billionaires on Fox". Tucker Carlson isn't being used. He is paid vast amounts of money for defending the privileges of his class. That was the interesting part about his analogy of sitting in the castle looking at the poor peasants and coming up with ways of distracting them from doing something about their poverty and impotence.

Rutger Bredmann is actually criticizing Fox News for ignoring what most Americans want: Higher taxes for multimillionaires. He went to Davos and said to the billionaires that they are in denial about this theme and in the conversation with Tucker Carlson he exposed the man's hypocrisy as somebody who pretends to be opposed to the elites and yet at the same time is doing his utmost to protect the elites by presenting his viewers with irrelevant ******** while ignoring the theme of taxation of the 1%.
As long as he can persuade the disgruntled working classes that blacks, Mexicans, LGBT people and SJWs are the real problem, Tucker Carlson and his ilk can rest safe and sound in their castles and mansions on the other side of the moat.
The two videos complement each other perfectly!

Thread title

"Fox News Host Gets Triggered by Historian"

I say yes and agree, but the dude was trolling

People say "What about other stuff?"

Fine

Start another thread with that as the topic

Will probably agree with that as well, and it probably won't involve some dude trolling

Fox doesn't invite people who are critical unless they can be portrayed as trolls.
Pick a different channel if you want an actual discussion

There's a massive difference between criticism (the historian, pointing out the obvious flaws in Carlson's brand of "populism"), and trolling, which is intended to enrage people in an online forum. That Carlson got in his feelings at what was perfectly accurate criticism does not change the fact that the criticism was accurate.

The thread was about Tucker Carlson and his reaction to the Dutch historian Bregmann. The thread had died in February, but I revived it in April when new and interesting information about Tucker Carlson's philosophy and strategy as a Fox host appeared, which is not exactly "what about other stuff?"
The 'stuff' is still Tucker Carlson as a Fox host.
Too bad you didn't notice that.

I have noticed loads of set-up reporting by Carlson

It is just that none of it relates to the dude trolling him in the video over being a millionaire working for billionaires, like most other stations of whatever political side in the US.

Do you not think left news channel reporters set up right interviewees?

This is hardly blimmin Fox only stuff

It is the whole point of media taking sides and it is boring and annoying

I don't really understand why you're here discussing this if it's so boring and annoying.
Why don't you start another thread about your idea of what constitutes trolling and about "left news channel reporters" who "set up right interviewees?"
Do you know of any? Or is it just that you would like it to be true?
Trump is whining about the media being mean to him all the time, but I don't remember anybody setting him up.

I'm fine on this one thanks

Waiting for someone to show where the trolling dude is going into the other stuff instead of his just obvious trolling on one topic unrelated to all your side issues in that video

He isn't trolling, but never mind.
Is this what you're asking for?

(1:34-4:55) The vast majority of Americans, for years and years now, according to the polls – including Fox News viewers and including Republicans – are in favor of higher taxes on the rich. Higher inheritance taxes, higher top marginal tax rates, higher wealth taxes. It’s all really mainstream. But no one’s saying that at Davos, just like no one’s saying it on Fox News, right? And I think the explanation for that is quite simple. It’s that most of the people in Davos, but also here on this channel, have been bought by the billionaire class. You know? You’re not meant to say these things. So I just went there and I thought, you know what, I’m just gonna say it, just as I’m saying it right here on this channel. (…) Almost all the pundits on this channel for years have been against higher taxes, right? Even though the vast majority of Americans is in favor of it. (…) So in the 1950s, for example, in the 1960s, in the Golden Age of capitalism, as historians called it, we had top marginal tax rate for the very rich, of about 70, 80, 90%, actually, under Eisenhower, the Republican president. And this was one of the beste periods of American history. The same is true for the UK and the rest of Europe. So as a historian, for me, it’s really not rocket science. We should just go back to simple and straightforward solutions from the past. (…) So I think the issue really is one of corruption, and of people being bribed, and not being, not talking about the real issues. What the family – what the Murdochs basically want you to do is to scapegoat immigrants instead of talking about tax avoidance. So I’m glad you’re now finally raising the issue, but that’s what’s been happening for the past couple of years.
