The Trump Presidency 13: The (James) Baker's Dozen

Just a thought.

Had you considered that anyone interested in what the orange toad is Tweeting will probably check? I find it well beyond tedious that you feel a need to quote them constantly.

And plenty of other readers of these threads have thanked him for providing a welcome service. Should your tedium take precedence over their appreciation?

The forum software provides a mechanism which will remove his posts from your view. Have you considered taking advantage of that?

Others here have said just the opposite. They appreciate Captain_Swoop doing the legwork so they don't have to.
I know. Really TA, you don't have to read the Captain's posts.

I find it convenient to read Toad Tweets here, it's convenient.

Well... news drop time.

A Trump supporter with a rifle has been turning up at Arizona churches looking for Jeff Flake

Does anything more need said? This is the kind of thing that makes me want to deny Trump a platform to project his vitriol from, problematic as that would be in its own right.

Trump Hires Private Legal Team to Keep Tax Records from CONGRESS

That's pretty straight-forward, too. Trump really, really doesn't want his tax returns to be either seen or meaningfully audited. Also of note as something directly related -

According to Chris Hayes, the current IRS Commissioner is a former Trump tax lawyer who previously argued ...that Trump need not release his returns.

AND, as if that were not enough, Trump was SO worried about this issue that he told McConnell that confirming THIS guy, the IRS Commish quickly, was a higher priority in timing than getting BARR through.

We don’t have an appointee to be the real Secretary of Defense, but we have a handpicked IRS Commissioner. A lackey.

Nothing suspicious here.

Yup, nothing suspicious. Just another case of Trump putting a toadie in place because they promised to protect him and the Republicans falling all over themselves to support that.

Speaking of Trump picks, though...

Trump interior secretary pick invoiced client for lobbying services months after he said he stopped

Mmm. Anyone think that this might be related?

Was it a botched invoice? Sure, whatever, y'all knock yourselves out. In the end it only matters in the tedious "federal crimes" sense; in reality, Bernhardt launched into an effort to shape specific federal policies to benefit that very same lobbying client almost immediately after being placed in his Interior Department post, a move that even the Team Trump version of ethics specifically, supposedly, barred.

Trump appointee even breaks the Team Trump version of ethics? I'm, like, so totally shocked!

Oh, and for an extra for... amusement? Confusion? Something?-

Pro-KKK paper in Alabama announces sale to apparent Klan leader—then the story keeps getting weirder

Yeah. It does. The kind of weird that leads to stuff like -

Four days later, on April 5, Brownlee confirmed with Daily Kos that he remains unable to find any record of a formal sale.

And thus the burning question remains: Did a tiny Alabama paper owned by a man who called for the KKK to ride again actually get sold to a KKK Imperial Wizard who’s pretending to be his own imaginary brother?

And that just touches on a couple of the highlights.

The IRS doesn't have a leg to stand on if the tax returns are subpoenaed.
The only chance Trump has is for someone to hide his somewhere in the building, like he made people at his old schools do with his report cards.

I appreciate Captain Swoop providing them here as I don't have a Twitter account nor will I follow the Big Orange Baby's account. Like I pass over a few posters here whose posts I find tedious or simply trollish, you can do the same.

Trump doesn't want his school records, his tax records or the Mueller Report revealed to the public. You'd think a man (and I use that term loosely) who brags about going to Wharton, being a billionaire, and being "completely exonerated" by the M. Report, would want these publicly seen. I'm at a complete loss as to why he's fighting so hard not to release them.

These days, I mostly skip over the Trump tweets, myself, to add a point of comparison.

Trump was given a chance. And then another couple hundred. I just don't feel like caring about what he's saying anymore. He just needs to be gone. From all our lives.

Preferably ending up in a place with bars and great security.

I am now, the first time I've used it. If others think it's a good thing, I'll play it that way.

I read them for a laugh. You know the "I can't believe what the idiot is saying now" kind of laugh.

I'd like nothing more than to see him slapped behind bars after losing BIGLY in 2020.

I've taken advantage of that feature a couple times. It helps. It's like the "block this number" feature on my cell. Some still get through when people quote them but nothing's perfect.

I like the fact that Captain Swoop post Trumps tweets, because he really tends to only post thea really, really stupid ones.

Its a valuable service to those like me who do not have (and will never have) a twatter account, as well as for those who do have an account, but cannot be bothered wading through all the raw sewage that is Trump's twitter feed, to find the really lumpy bits.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank Captain Swoop for "taking one for the team"!

In a thread about the President don't you think it's a good idea to knowwhat he is actually saying about things?

Agreed. I do have a Twitter account but most days I can't be bothered looking up The Dunce's latest blathering. Captain Swoop is doing all of us a service even if some of us don't want to read Trump's tweets. You can skip over them quite easily.

I also agree with Aridas. End it, please. Every freaking night I come home from work and this maniac is on the news. Every single night. He never shuts up. Never. He told Paul Ryan, "That's why I was a reality TV star." Good lord! This is our president talking?

Now, now! We have to work at not being so partisan. Trump is very open about many things.

Don't we have 100% of his military records? He's not required to do that, but out of respect for the American Public's Right to Know, we've seen every single page of his military records.

J-Stor also has every word he's ever written in dissertations.

But in determining value, you also have to ask, "At what cost?" A minor chuckle at the latest "Windmill Cancer" is far outweighed by the despair felt when you realize he believes in Windmill Cancer, and now, so will his idiot followers. So, negative net worth.

We need someone to take one for the team, and read all his stupid stuff. Then we need that person to post something like one of those "Safety in the Workplace" signs: "It's been 173 days since Trump said anything of worth". When (if?) the rest of use see the number reset to zero, then we can go see the unicorn.
I don't know if he believes it. It's just another ******* pitch for Trump.

Ditto.

Trump has never promised any such thing.

I recall that Trump once said under his plan everyone would have health insurance, or words to that effect. Found one such promise:

Before he was sworn in, President Trump made a bold promise: The as-yet-unreleased Obamacare repeal and replacement plan would have “insurance for everybody.”

“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”

Before I learned that “he just says stuff”, it actually gave me a glimmer of hope that in the same way that only Nixon could go to China, only Trump could get us universal health care. Silly me.
