Only if they're crap at reading comprehension. Which, being Democrats, they probably are.

More accurate adaptation:

“I will tell you this: DOJ employees, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to leak the Mueller report [...] I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

It hews more closely to the original version, and is probably correct. As is the original version.

You'd think right-wingers would be more careful about making preemptive victory laps after their repeated "so, how many arrests so far?" were eventually silenced by the multiple, actual arrests made by the Mueller team, and especially since they haven't seen the report at all.

But of course, if the report turns out to be very damaging and incriminating for the Trump administration, none of you will recant or retract your statements, hoping we'll all forget about those.

How would one call people like that? Grifters?

ETA: And of course Democrats aren't really bad at reading comprehension. I assume smartcooky got the form of the original joke wrong on purpose, because in addition to making his own joke, he's also trying to normalize the woo belief that Trump actually offered Russia a reward for releasing Hillary's emails.

Just because Trump was willing to offer Putin a penthouse in Trump Tower Moscow if Putin signed off on it, it's pure woo to believe Trump would offer Russia a reward for doing what he wanted! Why, Trump attempting to lift Magnitsky Sanctions after Russia offered dirt on his opponent in exchange for lifting the Magnitsky Sanctions and Russia publicly disseminated dirt on his opponent...that's just pure coincidence and thinking otherwise is a conspiracy theory! The New York Times had no legitimate sources, which would be totally illegal, concerning the Mueller Report. In fact, they probably had no sources at all! They are a Fake News paper who have already been forced to apologize for their incorrect and very bad reporting on me!

Well, I guess there's nothing wrong with having a president and his advisers who are only MANIPULATED by the Russians, rather than actually conspiring with them.

People forget the full report could be politically damaging to Trump while not quite being able to get enough evidence for an indictment.

So the fact that he merely urged Russian state actors to hack U.S. servers is A-OK?

A Democrat could just repeat it word for word, implying that Russia may already have the full report. Which, who knows, is possible.
