Massive Wave of Hate Crimes against minorities follows Trump election.

Interesting article about a mini-wave of alleged anti-LGBT hate crimes in Portland:

Inside the suspicious rise of gay hate crimes in Portland (Andy Ngo, NY Post)

The article definitely presents them like a bunch of fake hate crimes. Mentioning this in case readers get the wrong impression by the word "suspicious" in the article title. Here, suspicious means "did they really happen at all" Thanks, Jussie!

Never heard of one of these:

The case was investigated by the bias-crimes unit but was suspended due to the lack of tangible leads.

Muslim extremists were emboldened by the Obama Administration and its rhetoric that the US was all for the taking.

We, as a nation, voted in a black President for the first time in our history. Seemed like things were looking okay at that time.

But racial relations took a nosedive during the Obama administration because he liked to take sides. The handling of Ferguson comes to mind, sending in Holder and the feds to investigate a man who robbed a store and attacked a cop, and then turning his attention on the police dept. His rhetoric during that as well as "if I had a son he'd look like Trayvon" fanned the flames. "Hey he's on our side!" Black Lives Matter became a thing.

Bill Clinton did more for racial relations than Obama. What did Obama do besides set the stage for a backlash? You can blame Trump, but Trump, if anything was the result of this. He didn't create it.

Ya I'm making a lot of claims here, fun thread.

Speaking of posts that age very poorly - pretty much any post whining about how Obama sympathizing with Trayvon Martin's parents, or investigating the (very clearly white supremacist) Ferguson PD after they outright attacked an entire neighborhood. These were ridiculous from day 1, but are particularly bad when it's used to deflect blame for people voting for Dolt 45 onto the black guy.

Some folks are really like that comic where the guy rants and angrily eats a well-done steak with ketchup because a woman chuckles at Cheeto Benito doing it.

(The funny part is, the Black Lives Matter folks never saw Obama as "on [their] side". They saw him as obnoxiously neutral at best, and as lecturinmg them to be violent when they were the ones protesting out-of-control police and vigilantes at worst.)

Another one for the Massive Wave file:

"Scared, Amari told no one. On Wednesday, her grandmother was doing her hair when she noticed long portions of it missing. The girl started crying and told the whole story.... "

Fake News! Some generous students got together to help a classmate out with the high cost of tonsorial care. Mizzus Pence must not have been teaching that day or was too busy rooting out homos, so wasn't available to stand up for our Christian-Hoosier values, I reckon.(Yeah, it's THAT school.)

But the MAGA school year is off to a great start. It's not just fundies in Virginia but in the heartland of upstate NY, too.....

But, hey! None of this happened within weeks of Trump's election so it's not part of the "massive wave", so the apologists for racism can keep pointing that out rather than address the White Nationalist elephant in the room (said room being the Oval Office).

Amari said that she did not know what had prompted the boys to start bullying her in August, and that she was too traumatized to open up about the assault at first.

“I was afraid that they would do something bad to me,” Amari, who has attended the school for eight years, said. “I was afraid that the teachers wouldn’t do anything.”

Amari said the boys had previously taken away her lunches.

“They would eat it in front of me and say that I didn’t deserve to eat — that I should just starve.”

So not just holding her down and cutting her hair, they would also steal her lunch and eat it in front of her while saying that she didn't deserve to eat and should starve. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that this will turn out to be another hoax. It reminds me of both the alleged Virginia Tech fraternity gang rape allegation and the Jussie Smollett thing. I know, a good skeptic should wait for evidence, but this to me has all the hallmarks of a hoax. The details are too over-the-top. And somehow nobody else witnessed any of this?

Yes, this is absolutely the first time bullies have cut a kid's hair or stolen from and insulted them. Nobody has ever heard of such behavior until this report.

Oh come on, this is just boys will be boys, like when you hold down the only black boy in the school and rape him with a coat hanger. Just a bit of harmless fun.

Given that Puppycow's skepticism turned out to be correct, it was a hoax, this is a pretty stupid response.

And I will now see how it is good that there was no serious legal punishment for raping a classmate with a coathager because the tard made it all up anyway and who would believe a black? Racial attacks like that don't happen so it didn't happen and the judge was right to not punish them.

How is that case a relevant response to Puppycow's skepticism about an unrelated case?

It's not relevant.

I think PT keeps having to fall back on this one singular incident, even when it's not relevant, because that's all that's really available.

SPLC publishes a spurious claim about a massive wave, and the best option PT has for rehabilitating the claim is "but this one horrible thing happened this one time!" Like that one incident somehow invalidates the entire list of race-baiting hoaxes that have apparently surged since Trump got elected.

(Though, to be fair, these kinds of hoaxes may have been happening all along, and all we're seeing now is an increase in reporting.)

Hey that is too crazy to have happened therefor it never happened. Those kinds of group attacks on minorities simply do not happen, therefor that attack didn't happen.

I mean a group of white kids kicking a coat hanger up the anus of the one black kid in school, it could never happen in america.

It happened one time, so every similar claim is automatically true even when it's obviously false?

You're actually mad that somebody correctly spotted a hoax. That actually upsets you.
