I think you mean Henny Youngman, not Benny Goodman.

On Beto's current standing don't ignore personal charisma. One of the major voting blocks in the current Democratic party is made up of single women.

I'm just jumping into this discussion now, but... it may also be worth mentioning that there were a lot people who pretty much considered him to be a second coming of Obama while he was challenging Cruz. Both in good ways and in bad ways.

From what I've seen of him, I like the guy, but he's not generally high on the list for which candidates I favor. I still generally favor Warren the most, though, given her generally strong and consistent anti-corruption stance. Inslee, too, given his pointed focus on climate change, much as I think that he'd be a better VP candidate than Presidential candidate. I don't see Inslee as much more than a issue awareness candidate at the moment, though.

Weak. A lot happened culturally between 2012 and 2016. But never mind that...

Your assertion that she is the most liberal Dem ever nominated doesn't get past McGovern. You can't remove foreign policy from this equation. If you want to step back your comment to something like Not counting foreign policy, Hillary was no less a leftie than other Democratic nominees in recent times, I have no problem with that. I don't view her on par with Dick Cheney, as does a certain class of binary thinkers.

Eh, I don't have any particular problem with that. But I do resent the idea that she was "almost a Republican" when her policy positions were clearly so not Republican friendly.

Yes,pretty much. Or vote for a centrist independent candidate..which, if Sanders get the nomination, there will be one.
If Sanders is nominated, Trump will win reelection. I am wiling to bet on this.

I'll take that bet. One month avatar bet agreeable to you?

Never got a response from you on whether you will in fact bet on this. If Sanders doesn't win the nomination, there is no bet. If he wins the nomination and loses to Trump then you win. If he wins the nomination and beats Trump then I win.

Do we have an avatar bet?

if you want to reelect Trump, this whole "we don't need no stinking Centrists"attitude some have here is a great way to do it.

I respectfully disagree.
Medicare FOR ALL
Higher taxes on the wealthy

Are both winner issues.

The RADICAL is the NUTJOB in the White House that just proposed 139 percent increase in military spending, gutting science spending and cutting social programs.

Beto seem to have a bad case of Foot In Mouth Disease.

You know how it is; when he was running against a Republican the media were happy to cover up for him.

After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018.

As if this is somehow nefarious. If you're interviewing someone and he says it is off the record or asks a temporary prohibition period for publication and you agree to the conditions, it is the responsibility of the media source to keep their word.

Mayor Pete did a few appearances lately. Anyone coming around to him? He would be my candidate if I were a democrat.

Yeah, that used to happen a lot in the decades that everyone was in a phone book, with their street address listed next to their name.

Except that you didn't have the internet to meet those bozos for most of that time, and when you did you'd have an alias anyway.

So no, you're clearly not getting the idea of anonimity.

That can't be the right number.

Errr it's complicated. The budget submitted has a 138 (and some change) percent increase (from 69 billion in FY18 to 165 billion) in Overseas Contingency Operations, basically the money set aside to perform actual military operations overseas anything from a full scale war to other various "actions."

Other military programs, like building weapons system, training, logistics, troop pay, all that are funded differently.

I can't believe Beto has to apologize for a throwaway line about how he helped his wife raise the kids. Seriously, no normal people care about that.

Similarly, how abnormal do you have to be to care about stories he wrote when he was 15?

This is manufactured outrage of the highest level.
