The Trump Presidency 13: The (James) Baker's Dozen

Reminds me of Reagan, massively increase the deficit with tax cuts then pretend you've made the economy great because that increased debt amounts to a massive stimulus at first.

Then comes time for the payback.

It's like going on a spree with your credit card, all good until the bill arrives and you realize you'll spend the next ten years paying it off. The one difference with the deficit is of course that Trump is racking up the bills but others will wind up paying them.

Trump's Tweet:
Aluminum prices are down 12% since I instituted Tariffs on Aluminum Dumping - and the U.S. will be taking in Billions, plus jobs. Nice!

So so much wrong with that...

First of all... it is true. The global price of Aluminium has dropped. But that's for the price of the metal itself. Consumers don't pay that price, because they often have to pay tariffs in addition to the base price of the metal.

Secondly, he seems to be ignoring the reason why the price has dropped. Its because people are worried that Trump's actions might end up slowing global economic growth, thus dropping the demand for aluminium.

Thirdly, his claim that they are "taking in Billions"... he doesn't seem to understand (or care) that its the American consumer who is paying the tariffs (i.e. they're the ones that they are collecting the billions from.)

Lastly jobs... yes, some aluminum plans have hired people. Others however, have not. Alcoa for example cut 600 jobs.

I suspect that you're confusing Patriotism and Nationalism a bit, but, if you truly aren't, I disagree with you. Being a bit proud of a group project that one was an integral part of that came out well is not really a good sign of having nothing else to be proud of.
I have the greatest respect for the people who created the society I've blessed with, but I don't take pride in what they achieved. I can only take pride in what I do myself, which does not include being born in the UK, which was hardly my achievement. I take some pride in doing my civic duty - voting, paying my taxes, being a good neighbour - but not in an accident of birth. I realised at an early age that patriotism is a con, and what we're told are our country's interests are actually the interests of the people who own it.

I’m sure everyone here knows this quote, but it just seems SO appropriate!

#AmericaFirst – @marc_lotter: Democrats couldn’t condemn anti-semitism. That’s because the radical, left-wing socialists have taken over. Nancy Pelosi is having a hard time keeping Dems together. It is a shameful display of how our democracy works. #MAGA #TrumpTrain #Dobbs

The embrace of Trump by evangelicals, given his past and his reputation, is just about the most bizarre thing I have seen in a while.
I guess they have sold out Jesus for political power.

Trump really does have a 6th grade understanding of economics.

That was my first thought, too. WTF?
Me too.

Apparently there are a number of editions from camouflage to different branches.
Easy to read and understand Good News Translation in Desert camouflage cover. Includes photos of military personnel from all branches, familiar hymns, inspirational quotations. Also, 32 pages of special reader helps.

I'm guessing it's like pink and blue intended to sell more of something people already have. Mom or Auntie Bell can buy one for the soldier about to ship out. Or maybe put it in that care package with the cookies.
