David Icke's Visa Cancelled

I hope that puts to rest any claim that we haven't been given any reasons for denying the visa.

You haven't been. Stopping people from saying things doesn't reduce violence, it increases it and it lends credence to claims that a secret society, the illuminati, is in control and keeping people downtrodden. Denying this guy a visa is just further proof of this for these people.

Allow people to say what they want and offer a reasoned rebuttal. Prosecute all violence to the fullest extent possible. That is the recipe for diffusing these types of people.

So in spite of the denials in this thread, this is all about suppressing Icke's views (or at least sending the "right" message).

Apologies if this was addressed upthread, but does anyone know where this holocaust denier characterization of Icke is coming from? I've followed his comedy stylings for years and I've never seen him spout that particular flavor of nonsense. I know some folks think he's an antisemite using "reptile people" as a code word for Jews (I actually don't think that. I think he's genuinely abnormal enough to literally mean reptile people.) but "holocaust denier" is a pretty specific tag to put on someone. Is there some quote of his I'm missing or something?

Icke claims that the lizard people are disguising themselves as the Windsors, Rothschilds, GW Bush and some Jewish people in general.

Hardly rampant anti-semitism but it is easier to deny him a visa if you label him anti-semitic instead of just a nut.

Many critics have noted that Icke uses anti-Semitic arguments and imagery. Like many racist conspiracy theorists, he identifies investor George Soros as an enemy of humanity, and has endorsed "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," a long-since-debunked Russian anti-Semitic book published in 1903 that purports to detail a global Jewish conspiracy to take over the world. The book influenced Adolf Hitler and was used by the Nazis to agitate against Jewish people in the 1930s - though Icke himself denies being anti-Semitic and says the book is not evidence of a Jewish conspiracy, but a reptilian one.

...

He also says that Zionism - a key enemy in his talks - is "not about race" but is a political philosophy. "What I'm saying is that there is a cabal at the center of Zionism, not least connected to the house of Rothschild, that is in effect ... a secret society. And it's that secret society ... that is manipulating within the wider web of manipulation," Icke said.

The idea that he is antisemitic is not a radical one, nor is it unique to Australia.

Another thing to consider is that there are several versions of "Holocaust Denial"

1. The Holocaust never happened, its all a big hoax (Holohoax);

2. The Nazis' Final Solution only deported Jews and did not include their purposeful extermination because there were no extermination camps or gas chambers and those Jews that died did so from diseases such as cholera and tuberculosis. The actual number of Jews killed is significantly lower than the historically accepted figure of 5 to 6 million (typically about 10% of the officially accepted figure);

3. The Holocaust did take place, but some groups other than the Nazis were responsible;

Icke definitely falls into that latter category; he doesn't blame the Nazis, he blames xenomorphic Reptilian Overlords from Alpha Draconis who he says manipulated the Nazis. Whether or not these Reptilians actually exist, Icke IS blaming them for the Holocaust.... and that makes him a Holocaust Denier of the 3rd kind.

Got a reference for that?

And he does not deny the Holocaust. Icke says: “The way the Jewish people in Nazi Germany were treated by the Nazis is grotesque, horrific and almost beyond comprehension.”

* SIGH *

Everyone is still getting bogged in the anti-Semitic argument, which is entirely irrelevant.

I'm out.
From what arth quoted, it's not irrelevant, because the Australian government is under the misapprehension that Icke is a holocaust denier, when in any meaningful way he is not.

It's not as clear as all that. From all reports, when he speaks, he uses language that doesn't explicitly deny the Holocaust, but which any reasonable thinking person can see right through. He's very careful to deny the Holocaust without actually saying those words. And thus he gets to play the victim card when people say that he does deny the Holocaust.

Or so all the reports and articles I've seen about him over the years have said. I haven't heard him speak myself. Regardless, he has clearly said many things over many years that has the Jewish community very angry at him.

Thousands of people pay quite a lot of money to watch him give speeches that usually last up to eight hours. I've never read a book by him but I watched several of those speeches. He's the opposite of incoherent, as some earlier in the thread pointed to as a reason why he might be dangerous, even because he is so engaging (and amusing). If you haven't done so I repeat my recommendation to watch Jon Ronson's documentary about him and exactly this topic, "The Lizards and the Jews". It's actually a bit icky (haha) how the events in Canada of 2001 relate to those we are discussing today.

The sad thing is, Icke is not even original. He gets his ideas from people like Colin Anton Wilson (The Illuminati [if you like conspiracy theory, now there's a brilliant trilogy]) and Jim Morrison, The Lizard Kings.

With all due respect, that isn't a very good argument.

The very idea of a global cabal with its tentacles around the world is a Jewish trope. When you adopt it and its lead characters into your own paranoid conspiracy you only serve to perpetuate it. You turn up the otherising of members of the Rothschild family to eleven by the ultimate dehumanisation, casting them as reptiles from another planet.

I have no idea if Icke is doing this with hate. He seems like a kind person.

No, it is not. It is a masons trope. Rothschild might be Jewish but he was also an international banker. (The rich Jews I know want nothing to do with the freemasons.)

Colin? Is he Robert's brother?

Do you have any evidence regarding the latter statement, or is that just speculation? Morrison was the lizard king, singular, and wasn't talking about reptilian overlords.
