2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker

Ah yes, I was meaning to mention her when I was bemoaning Gary Coleman's absence. I look forward to the debate where everyone gets approximately two sentences in.

The DNC is requiring candidates to have 65,000 donors in order to make the debate stage. I don't think she's going to pull it off.

This is the one time in the political season when you can depend on the usually liberal media to start taking potshots at Democrats; that is, Democrats running against their particular candidate.

Amy Klobuchar is not the candidate of the NY Times; that much seems certain:

Senator Amy Klobuchar was hungry, forkless and losing patience.

An aide, joining her on a trip to South Carolina in 2008, had procured a salad for his boss while hauling their bags through an airport terminal. But once onboard, he delivered the grim news: He had fumbled the plastic eating utensils before reaching the gate, and the crew did not have any forks on such a short flight.

What happened next was typical: Ms. Klobuchar berated her aide instantly for the slip-up. What happened after that was not: She pulled a comb from her bag and began eating the salad with it, according to four people familiar with the episode.

Then she handed the comb to her staff member with a directive: Clean it.

The Huffington Post also doesn't care for her:

Although some staffers grew inured to her constant put-downs (“It’s always ‘the worst,’” one said sarcastically, “‘It was ‘the worst’ one two weeks ago”), others found it grinding and demoralizing. Adding to the humiliation, Klobuchar often cc’d large groups of staffers who weren’t working on the topic at hand, giving the emails the effect of a public flogging.

When it's reality TV, it's called the winner's edit:

Probably the biggest lie the mainstream media tells you is that all the editorial opinions are on the editorial page.

Looks like the competition on the Democrats' left flank is going to be who can offer more freebies. Virtually everyone of them agree on universal health care, and I suspect there is reasonable accord on free college as well. So Elizabeth Warren has come out with universal pre-school. And now she's talking about how Native Americans (like her!) need to be "part of the conversation on reparations."

Warren previously indicated support, along with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), for reparations for black Americans affected by slavery. Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro also suggested support for reparations for black Americans, the Post noted.

Whether you agree or disagree, reparations isn't a freebie. It's compensation.

Ya, the freebie would be the slave labor that built the foundations of this country's industry

Not to mention the White House.

It's not just reparations for slavery, but 150 years of segregation and unequal applications of the law. It's Jim Crow and being relegated to being second class citizens. Poorer schools, and lack of opportunities.

No matter what you call it, the idea is a huge loser for the Dems. Imagine what the GOpers could do with that idea. I hope the Dems let that sink into oblivion.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid you're right. Selling that while trying to win an election doesn't sound like a winner even if it's the right thing to do.

Well, not to mention that the Dems have a bazillion other ideas about what to do with that money, other than giving it to black people.

Establishment US Dems aren't going to give money to black people.

Not as long as they still have room in their pockets for those sweet dollah-dollah-bills.

Careful you are getting dangerously close to blackface territory.

Who is the anti-establisment Dem right now?

From where I'm sitting there are very few. Possibly Bernie, Omar, and maybe AOC. But even that is a bit of a stretch.

There is no actual left-wing in the US Dem party.

What money? Are you assuming there's any left after Donnie and the Plundering Herd finish their term? How big is the deficit going to be? "Deficit"... you can look it up in the Big Book of Republican Issues Pre-2017. It's alphabetically between Corruption and Free Trade.

So Bernie, since Omar is not runnning and AOC is constitutionally barred (too young).
