Oh, he did worse than that. He spied on and prosecuted journalists.

The Obama adminsitration's (mis)use of the state secrets privilege was arguably the worst policy of his administration and completely out of line with his other civil rights policies.

Trump's action on the Wall is of a piece of his whole presidential push for his xenophobic biases.

This distinction makes comparison of the two suspect, at best.

- Declaring a national emergency where none exists on order to further his own political career.
- Banning people from certain countries exclusively on the basis of their religion.
- Sympathising with with white nationalists and white supramacists

FDR imprisoned people based on their ancestry and got extremely sympathetic and friendly with actual Klan members to pass the new deal.

I admit that it will be a question of hindsight whether the Trump Wall Emergency will be considered an abuse of power or not - just like almost anything Trump has done.
This is compounded by the fact that, from what we have learned, Trump would have committed massive abuses of power already, had he not been stopped by the Adolescents in the Room (the doesn't associate with actual adults).
And Republicans are in no hurry to impeach him for Attempted Abuse.

“The Washington Post ignored basic journalistic standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump.” Covington student suing WAPO. Go get them Nick. Fake News!

The Press has never been more dishonest than it is today. Stories are written that have absolutely no basis in fact. The writers don’t even call asking for verification. They are totally out of control. Sadly, I kept many of them in business. In six years, they all go BUST!

The New York Times reporting is false. They are a true ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!

California now wants to scale back their already failed “fast train” project by substantially shortening the distance so that it no longer goes from L.A. to San Francisco. A different deal and record cost overruns. Send the Federal Government back the Billions of Dollars WASTED!

Does Trump really want to set a precedent where wasted Federal dollars are returned?

That could be *very* interesting.

Is that a joke or is that an actual thing?

from his latest medical exam:

Additionally, Dr. Conley did not provide the list of the medications that Trump is taking. Instead, he only mentioned an increase in Trump's dose of a cholesterol-lowering medication, rosuvastatin, to 40 mg a day.

the drug is also used to lower the risk of dementia, and he is taken the maximal recommended dosage.

You really don’t know US history, do you? Wilson and FDR did far, far worse, on every count.
A little bit of historical context is important.

Yes, if you look through the actions of Wilson and FDR you can find things they did that were... questionable (such as japanese internment). However, their actions should be weighed against the fact that 1) society was substantially different back then, and 2) for at least part of their terms, they were dealing with major military conflicts that the U.S. did not directly initiate.

We can look back now and see that things like the Japanese internment camps were wrong. But that's because society's norms have changed (for the better).

The problem with Trump is that he doesn't seem to have learned anything.

Did everyone miss this? This strikes me as considerably more important than the border "emergency" or non-emergency or whatever quibbling about a stupid wall. Hell, this strikes me as worse than actually building the damn wall.

Yes, only Iran should be allowed to pursue its nuclear program.

And, while the logic behind Japanese interment camps was shaky, at best, we were actually at war with Japan at the time.

Trump's crisis is invented out of whole cloth.

In harking back to the now clearly seen improprieties of FDR and Wilson as a means to make light of the Trump ****-show, one must beware of context. After all, FDR's earlier tenure is now nearing a *century* past. This is 2019, where society has evolved in ways practically inconceivable back then. Gay marriage. A black President. To name but two.
