I dunno, even Patty Hearst managed an acting career. As long as they don't do anything to other actors the industry seems quite forgiving.

Oh, there's times I don't miss Chicago...

Nobody is surprised this is a city where they've got good PR speak, that's quite a soft sell.

Subtext: Since a lot of principal photography for Empire takes place in Chicago, she's rubbed shoulders with too many cast and crew at elite shindigs and there's probably PAC money that could be sniffed out by someone linking them.

Even without the alleged PAC money component, doesn't this make sense if she's simply well-acquainted or friends with people involved?

The grounds for the recusal would have existed at the beginning of the month, too. The timing makes this purely political.

It's starting to look like the entire thing was purely political. From Smollett's initial claim, to Harris's endorsement, to the CPD's meticulous threading of the needle, to the attorney's recusal, the whole thing reads as a failure mode of progressive politics.

What case? I wouldn't have thought this would involve that office until just the past couple of business days.

Just found this video of an LA based Civil Rights activist pointing out if this indeed pans out that Jussie Smollett did orchestrate the entire affair, then this does indeed cause problems for those with legitimate accusations.

And again this whole affair points out once again the problem with the 'Automatically Believe the Victim (Accuser)' mentality.
 
Is there such a mentality? It seems Smollett was believed exactly the same amount as anyone who filed a report with the police. They investigated his claims, tracked down suspects.

Now, if you want to talk about the armchair detective mentality.....
