Hey, I'm just admiring the crackerjack detective work you guys are bringing forth. Still zero evidence but you are going on and on and on.

Thus far, the evidence consists of no evidence. Some Tweet claimed that all but sixty seconds of his trip was on video. Where's the police statement to that effect? Another Twitterer claims "twenty-five officers" are pursuing one or another angle.

The police have basically said, "we're investigating". You know what the FBI said for two years after the kidnap and murder of the Lindbergh baby? Wanna guess?

No. Pointing out inconsistency in your approach to similar occurrences is not a distraction, a tu quoque or a straw man. (I include the Trifecta of Logical Fallacies The Big Dog Doesn't Understand to save you time. I'm like that, all generous and stuff.)

Yeah, I wouldn't read much into hiring a PR firm. Most famous people hire one sooner or later so they don't have to deal directly with the press.

There are facts that are relevant and facts that are not. The PR firm and the fact that "It's the same one used by Harvey Weinstein!!1!" is not actually relevant.

What is relevant is that there's no video of the assailants to be found. Not just the alleged attack itself, but of them running away after the attack. Even Bigfoot would have been seen.

Yeah it is totally and utterly fallacious, a derail, a diversion, and a desperately terrible argument, particularly given the fact that it was “ebil librulz” as you so fatuously remarked who attacked the kids in the first place about hiring pr people. I have explained innumerable times why these arguments are not just pathetically weak they do the most damage to your own fellow travelers.

But do Keep it up, and never, ever stop typing insipid things like “ebil librulz.”

There's a theory that it's the result of a plea agreement including snitching and/or becoming an informant. Supposedly, the no contest plea also makes it difficult or impossible to pursue civil litigation against him (I am not a lawyer).

I was surprised too, a sentence like that for an assault like that. I wonder what Smolette's attackers would end up should they get caught ? This one's got far more media coverage so there's naturally going to be more interest in it.

Plus it's a mystery to solve.

We have a noose, made out of what, closeline ?
We have bleach, no doubt to bleach the black guy white
We have damage to a professional face.
No serious injuries

So far everything's looking symbolic, artistic even.

Then there's the crying and the fact that the dude does make-believe for a living. I have doubts that the events played out as described but as long as this stays in the media, the longer we're going to chew on it.

I'm skeptical of Smollett's story, however, I'm equally skeptical of all the twitter stories that keep being said as though they are facts*. Have the police given a time line of the events? No. Do I expect them to? No. That would be very unprofessional.

*I have tried to track down some of these stories myself and what do you know, faceplant users just keep repeating the same ****.

You're really missing the point. It seems that you're working hard to do so. There is no evidence for either p.o.v. No. Evidence. That you and several other posters have found it entertaining to speculate in literally hundreds of posts is, I suppose, testament to your devotion.

No one else is saying.... "Automatically believe him." What several are saying is "Let's see how this plays out." And the LOL Librulz Chorus says, "Oh, yes, I agree, but how come he didn't film the attackers, huh, huh, tell me that?" And then go on to pet theory numbers 2 through 27.

"It's a free country!", amiright? Everyone and anyone can post whatever they like as long as it's marginally "on topic". But that also means that those of us who notice that you've pulled the goalie and replaced three defenders with forwards and mid-fielders are free to take notice of the rather blatantly empty speculation, and to comment on it.

I honestly don't know if his story is true, partially true, or a complete fabrication. Are there hate crimes in America? Are there drama llamas who get caught up in seemingly minor lies? Yes, to both. I'm not a mind reader, though. So I simply don't know what the outcome is going to be.

That's all I'm promoting. Non-partisan skepticism.

Along with the CPD report, which doesn't exactly match Jussie's account of the attack.

Now we have a hot sauce bottle possibly filled with bleach that, according to the Daily Fail, was discovered 10 days after the alleged attack.

Combine that with Jussie hiring a Sunshine Sachs which has issued a press release and landed him a interview on GMA.

Now what I'd like to know is exactly when did he sign on with Sunshine Sachs - if it was about the time a certain bottle turned up, well....

Give a rest to the hot sauce bottle fer crissake! It was found, in plain sight, ten days after the purported event, by a reporter for the NY Post. There is zero credibility to this "evidence". The Chicago PD would have been over and over that site. Did Scotty energize it into position?

And I think that’s fair enough. So what exactly are you trying to illustrate with your post counts? I mean, I don’t really know what to think about this either and I’m content to wait and see. But if other people want to discuss the case -like countless other cases on this forum- I’m not really sure what the problem- specifically, the problem for you- is. Every case has its room for speculation, why is this different? Like you say, there is no evidence -that fact alone is enough to prompt discussion.
