Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

The crook in the White House is simply holding the country to ransom to get his precious wall. This wall will literally take 10 years to build, and will cost shiploads more than US$5 billion (more like US$30 billion).

Also, you don't actually need a "wall" to keep people out. The DoD are very, very effective at keeping people out of Groom Lake and Dugway Proving Ground... they don't have a wall, they just have a fence and a very sophisticated surveillance system.

Frankly, I don't understand why they don't just give him his wall funding, get him to sign the bill, then the Dems can open a House Oversight Investigation into the Cost of The Border Wall. This will cause some delays while the investigation takes place, and then when the people vote Trump out in 2020, the first order of business for the incoming Government will be to cancel the whole stupid project.

I'm reluctant to give Trump an inch.

Yeah but.... do you know the best walls ?

Because Trump knows the best walls. If you don't know the best walls like Trump, then you don't really know walls as much as he does.

When it was going to be concrete, I was thinking - great backstop for softball fields. A whole border of softball fields. We could pay for the wall by charging admission to softball tournaments.

But with the steel slats, you can't retrieve loose balls. So now we have to pay for the wall out of tax dollars and Mexico gets all the loose balls.
Trump's loose ball wall is not going to play well with his base supporters. Nope, loose ball supporters will be few and far between.

Hey!

He's looked at walls from both sides now
From north and south, and still somehow
It's wall illusions he recalls
He really don't know walls, at all

Lay off the jump rope songs! 'At's my department!

As in:

Liddle Donny Trumper,
Dressed up in tweeds.
Liddle Donny Trumper,
Settin' in the weeds.

Liddle Donny Tramper
Flyin' in low.
Who's Donny Dumper?
Damn if I know.

Little Dammy Trumpfer,
Oh gosh heck!
Fell down the stairs
And broke his NECK!

Burma Shave.

Attorney General updates:

President Donald Trump has at least twice in the past few weeks vented to his acting attorney general, angered by federal prosecutors who referenced the President's actions in crimes his former lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Trump was frustrated, the sources said, that prosecutors Matt Whitaker oversees filed charges that made Trump look bad. None of the sources suggested that the President directed Whitaker to stop the investigation, but rather lashed out at what he felt was an unfair situation.

The first known instance took place when Trump made his displeasure clear to acting attorney general Matt Whitaker after Cohen pleaded guilty November 29 to lying to Congress about a proposed Trump Tower project in Moscow. Whitaker had only been on the job a few weeks following Trump's firing of Jeff Sessions.

Over a week later, Trump again voiced his anger at Whitaker after prosecutors in Manhattan officially implicated the President in a hush-money scheme to buy the silence of women around the 2016 campaign -- something Trump fiercely maintains isn't an illegal campaign contribution. Pointing to articles he said supported his position, Trump pressed Whitaker on why more wasn't being done to control prosecutors in New York who brought the charges in the first place, suggesting they were going rogue.

The previously unreported discussions between Trump and Whitaker described by multiple sources familiar with the matter underscore the extent to which the President firmly believes the attorney general of the United States should serve as his personal protector. The episodes also offer a glimpse into the unsettling dynamic of a sitting president talking to his attorney general about investigations he's potentially implicated in.

Whitaker and William "Bill" Barr, Trump's nominee to replace Sessions, are facing increased scrutiny this week for their criticisms of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling. Whitaker refused to recuse himself from overseeing the Mueller probe. And a memo from Barr came to light in which he wrote that Trump's decision to fire former FBI director James Comey did not amount to obstruction.

Roberts gets the last word with Trump:

A divided Supreme Court won’t let the Trump administration begin enforcing a ban on asylum for any immigrants who illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

Chief Justice John Roberts joined his four more liberal colleagues Friday in ruling against the administration in the very case in which President Donald Trump had derided the “Obama judge” who first blocked the asylum policy.

New Justice Brett Kavanaugh and three other conservative justices sided with the administration.

There were no opinions explaining either side’s votes.

The court’s order leaves in place lower court rulings that blocked Trump’s proclamation in November automatically denying asylum to people who enter the country from Mexico without going through official border crossings.

More of the best people:

We have obtained a list of 95 new Trump administration appointees made over the past six months. Following a pattern we’ve detailed before, many of the hires previously worked on President Donald Trump’s campaign or at conservative think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation. In other cases, appointees seem to have little work experience at all.

Actually, I just heard about some amusing corruption at the White House.

Now normally I would never refer to any corruption as amusing, but for any Seinfeld fan, they will get this. The Deputy Chief of Staff was brought over by Chief of Staff John Kelly from Homeland Security. A 37 year old man by the name of Zach Fuentes was pulling a George Costanza along with a little inside dealing.

Wonder what would happen if the hastily recalled Senate passed a bill providing $5.6 towards the wall. Yes, you read that right: $5.6, or $5.60. Just leave out the "billion" references in any form. So there will be funds in the bill for his wall. Technically, and Trump knows tech. It's doubtful Donny, who is renown for not reading stuff, will notice that the "bn" is missing, he will then bugger off to Florida, and everyone can then have a happy yuletide. He will also crow that the Dems caved, but I'm sure they can live with that. Then later Donny will try to personally pocket the money...spend it wisely on the wall. It probably won't go far. ;)

Trump Tweets

Thank you to our GREAT Republican Members of Congress for your VOTE to fund Border Security and the Wall. The final numbers were 217-185 and many have said that the enthusiasm was greater than they have ever seen before. So proud of you all. Now on to the Senate!

Soon to be Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, last week live from the Oval Office, that the Republicans didn’t have the votes for Border Security. Today the House Republicans voted and won, 217-185. Nancy does not have to apologize. All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!
That man lives in a fantasy beyond any that has ever existed before.

I said

Wall! Huh!
Good god, y'all!
What it is good for?
Absolutely nothing! (Say it again)

Wall! Huh!
Lord, Lord, Lord...
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!

Except the bill would be fixed in the conference, so they would have to pull it off over the House when they vote on the final bill as well.
