Is it just me, or are some of the rest of you suspicious of Trump's decision to ignore America's allies, America's military and foreign service experts and follow the wishes of Erdogan, the dictator Flynn sold out to and Russia, the country he lied about?

Every time I turn around Trump is doing things for dictators who backed his campaign and crapping on countries that have been our allies for decades.

No, you are not alone.

Is it just me, or are some of the rest of you suspicious of the GOP's decision to ignore... experts....

FTFY. No, not suspicious. Convinced. Convinced that the malicious denial of inconvenient fact in service of the conscious betrayal of democracy has been going on since the founding of the Republic, changing party names but its not backstabbing, cowardly intent. Redcoat loyalist ring-kissers, to Confederate whip-wielding thugs, to today's groveling GOP: Dishonor as a way of life.

One if by land, two if by sea, three if the traitors are standing right next to me.

An early christmas present for the Taliban and Pakistan: Trump is bringing half of the US troops stationed in Afghanistan home.

I'd say it's a 50-50 chance with Trump. Hmmmm...make that 60-40 that he thinks they're real coyotes.
Way higher. If he meant smugglers, he wouldn't have said "believe it or not".

oh my word, I'm actually with you on this. I suspect he is thinking of real coyotes. This exchange really made me chuckle.

ETA: awwww... "Every year, 50,000 illegal children are smuggled by coyotes and criminals into our country." his quote from a few minutes later in the speech.

Anyone want to guess on how much the Dow drops tomorrow?

Also...I think we might not be talking enough about how our economy is currently spiraling into disaster.

Worst December stocks since the Great Depression. Trump loved taking credit for it when it was breaking records. Now? Not so much.

I usually argue that the President is given too much credit for the economy, but if the recession hits before the re-election, it will probably be all Trump's own fault.

Thank you to our GREAT Republican Members of Congress for your VOTE to fund Border Security and the Wall. The final numbers were 217-185 and many have said that the enthusiasm was greater than they have ever seen before. So proud of you all. Now on to the Senate!

Soon to be Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, last week live from the Oval Office, that the Republicans didn’t have the votes for Border Security. Today the House Republicans voted and won, 217-185. Nancy does not have to apologize. All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!

The US House of Representatives has passed a spending bill, including money for the president's border wall, to keep US agencies open until February.

The measure now heads to the Senate, where it is expected to fail, setting the stage for a partial government shutdown on Friday at midnight.

If he claims to have $9 billion and if he claims to love America, then why doesn’t he pony up $5 billion. I’m pretty sure a guy in his 70s who will have armed bodyguards for the rest of his life could live very comfortably on the remaining $4 billion.

I was going to say he'll need it for lawyers, but then I remembered that the only lawyers that are going to want to touch him by then will work for food.

Ryan and the forty lame ducks can claim they did their bit. Donnie can then blame McConnell or Democrats and there still won't be a spending bill with funds for his pet white elephant. This is all to get the reactionary wing off his back. And it'll probably work. They're such sluts that they'll be happy that they made him at least TRY to stick to his promise, even if he really did nothing other than set them up for a later failure.

I'm kind of conflicted about this - I HATE him getting any kind of win, but the border could probably use $5 billion worth of "steel slats," which is the new name for The Wall. IOW, a fence. Which Trump now admits won't be continuous.

On the other hand, the $5 billion will probably be pissed away on planning, design, acquiring property, building roads, doing environmental impact statements etc. Unfortunately Homeland Security has the authority to waive a whole bunch of laws due, I think, to the Patriot Act, but what are the chances Trump actually has a viable proposal that is shovel-ready?

Anyway, a nice bit of pork for the steel and construction industries. While other infrastructure crumbles, of course.

In practice it may be a continuation of the Secure Fence Act of 2006:

From Wikipedia:

Although the 2006 law authorized construction of a fence, Congress initially did not fully appropriate funds for it (see authorization-appropriation process). "Congress put aside $1.4 billion for the fence, but the whole cost, including maintenance, was pegged at $50 billion over 25 years, according to analyses at the time."[10]

A 2017 GAO report noted: "According to CBP, from fiscal year 2007 through 2015, it spent approximately $2.3 billion to deploy border fencing along the southwest border, and CBP will need to spend a substantial amount to sustain these investments over their lifetimes. CBP did not provide a current life-cycle costs estimate to maintain pedestrian and vehicle fencing, however, in 2009 CBP estimated that maintaining fencing would cost more than $1 billion over 20 years."[12]

Bush tried like hell to get that tied into comprehensive immigration reform, but Congress decided to punt on that for another 12 years.

That's what Trump means when he says "a lot of it is already done."

ETA: Plus, he told Pelosi he had the votes in the House and she said, OK, do it. She was banking on him not having the votes. Oops.

You're gaslighting yourself. Of course it's not just you.

So the US is getting out of Syria because ISIS has been defeated, and Russia doesn't like this because it means it will have to continue fighting ISIS?

Anyway, RT - the Kremlin mouthpiece news outlet - says Russia is happy with it. You'd think they'd know.

Indeed, and:

"The Democrats, who know Steel Slats (Wall) are necessary for Border Security"

"Remember the Caravans? Well, they didn’t get through and none are forming or on their way. Border is tight."

If the border is tight...
