Remember how he acted with a hardhat or in that truck? Yeah, your scenario is very, very plausible.
Trump in the fire truck immediately came to mind.

I picture him basking in his imaginary triumph, Kennedy started the Moon project, and this is Trump's imaginary world.

I was discussing this with a Trumpista parent at my son's school this morning. He is rallying behind "it's all in the optics" dodge. Trump didn't feel it was right to be seen golfing while protected by federal employees who were about to have their end-year paycheck held back. A friend chimed in.... "You're kidding, right. He has no fear of optics... he drives his damned golf cart up on the green and says the first damned-fool thing to come into his mind. It's far more likely that he is paranoid that if someone was to take a shot at him the Secret Service might be busy looking the other way!"
Both reasonable opinions. I myself think he doesn't want people bothering him about it during his holiday.

Remember how awful it was that the Democratic Party establishment helped Clinton beat Bernie Sanders? That wouldn't happen in the Republican Party. The situation wouldn't arise.

No, that wasn't awful. A private organisation has leadership to make those decisions.

Okay all the "We're fighting aliens!" jokes aside, "Space" as in the communications, surveillance, and other factors in modern combat that take place "in space" are no small factor so, much as with the US finally making Cyber Defense a Combatant Command I support this. Making a war fighting area a Combatant Command gives them resources and an organized command structure.

I remain on the fence but if a space force is created I hope it explicitly abides by the Outer Space Treaty we are a signatory of. I doubt Dump has given that one iota of consideration.

Apart from the military.

That's true and I thought about the military as I was writing that post. I suppose the military gets a pass because they are seen as tough guys who don't take **** from anybody. IOW, it's a macho thing which, apparently, overrides other mundane considerations such as budgets and the evil of socialism.

This is idiotic. What if Dump decides not to run. What if he is so overwhelmed with indictments that the GOP does not want him as a candidate. I suppose this also means that other candidates can kiss goodbye to a challenge to Dump since they would be running against their own party.

Somebody did not think this thing through to the end result.

It certainly does sound really, really dumb. To get to where they are, though, chances are decent that those in charge aren't so dumb. Hence why I suggested that there might be some... underhanded stuff going on there.

I think this is an admission that Trump's their cash cow and that the hedgers are backing PACs rather than the RNC. If Trump 2020 falls on its ass the RNC can resuscitate the corpse whenever they want to. A lot of the party money is in the Senatorial, House and Governors Fundraising groups now, anyway. But the big (and smart) spending is run by the PACs nowadays.

MAGA!

United States added to list of most dangerous countries for journalists for first time
At least 63 professional journalists were killed doing their jobs in 2018, a 15 percent increase over last year, Reporters Without Borders said.

by Reuters, NBC News — Dec 18, 2018

At least we are getting a little closer to first on another wonderful list?:eye-poppi

Finally, a couple good things to come out of this administration. The banning of bump stocks and the Criminal Prison Justice Reform. Unfortunately those are overshadowed by virtually everything else.

You make it sound like there is an independant RNC anymore. Trump is rolling them together with his reelection campaign.
