I wonder if Trump knowingly follows Russian Troll tweets, because he can be sure that their messages are being automatically amplified.

Okay all the "We're fighting aliens!" jokes aside, "Space" as in the communications, surveillance, and other factors in modern combat that take place "in space" are no small factor so, much as with the US finally making Cyber Defense a Combatant Command I support this. Making a war fighting area a Combatant Command gives them resources and an organized command structure.

Again I get it everyone just wants to make a "Hardy har aliens" joke about a "Space Force" but that's not what this is about.

I think there are a few reasons to object to the whole 'space force' notion:

At this point, the technology regarding 'space' is not mature (for example, The U.S. does not currently have a way to reliably send people to outer space.) Furthermore, the functions that such a 'space force' might provide could probably be accomplished by existing organizations (The Air Force, NASA)

Maybe in a few years, once technology advances and we have a clearer distinction between what a 'space force' and what the air force/NASA does, then perhaps it may make sense to create a new branch of the military. Until then, it just seems like an expensive distraction for Trump and his minions.

A Combatant Command isn't the same thing as a full branch of the military. What is being proposed is just a unified chain of command for all space related military actives.

Right now we have 6 Geographic Combatant Commands (Africa, European, Central (Middle East mostly with a few pieces of the horn of Africa and Southwest Asia), Indo-Pacific, Northern (basically North America) and Southern (South America) and 4 Functional Combatant Commands (Cyber, Special Forces, Transportation, and Strategic). A "Space" command in that second category hardly strikes me as laughable.

No what Trump proposed was a full new branch. A space force to go along with the air force. This Space Command is simply not the space force that he was talking about.

THe goal is Space Force as a full military branch, it won't happen like his wall because of the massive stupidity of the idea but that is what this is being sold as a start toward.

So a united command of the militaries space assents(of course CIA and NSA assets are not counted in this) might make some sense but it isn't being sold in a sensible fashion. The goal is still Space Force.

So you are wrong, what is being implemented is that, but what is being proposed is a full sixth branch of the military.

Facebook, Twitter and Google are so biased toward the Dems it is ridiculous! Twitter, in fact, has made it much more difficult for people to join @realDonaldTrump. They have removed many names & greatly slowed the level and speed of increase. They have acknowledged-done NOTHING!
