You know why people get mad about fake news?

/by the way, do yourself a favor and read the article before wasting anyone's time?

I know, right?

It’s like when you get the halftime score of the game, but they leave out who actually won.

FAKE NEWS

A nice summary on Trump's obsession with Strzok and Page from Liverpoolmiss on badscience:

liverpoolmiss said:
For casual observers who don't know how reality compares to Trump's tweets:

(1) Strzok and “his lover Lisa Page" sent each other text messages on FBI/Justice Department provided phones. They used these work phones to hide their affair from their spouses.

(2) Trump is sexually obsessed with Lisa Page, often describing her as "lovely" and highlighting her illicit sexual activity with Strzok. He’s almost as obsessed as he is with Ivanka. He is equally consumed by his jealousy of Strzok.

(3) At some point these work phones were returned to their IT departments, and then wiped clean to factory settings and reissued to other employees.

(4) Following demands by Trump earlier in the year, the Inspector General requested copies of all messages. (The Office of the Inspector General are the compliance guys at Justice who basically audit the DoJ and FBI to make sure everyone behaves.)

(5) The IT department told the Inspector General that they couldn’t find over 19,000 texts in the back-up files and the actual phones had been wiped.

(6) The IT department got slapped around a bit and told to look again. They discovered their technology was a faulty and although the back-ups had been saved OK, they had gone to a different location than they thought. (“A technical failure by an automated collection application… misconfiguration issues related to rollouts… and software upgrades that conflicted with the FBl’s collection capabilities.”)

(7) Once they looked in the right place they recovered the 19,000 texts.

(8) They sent the 19,000 texts to the Inspector General.

(9) The Inspector General said thanks, that’s all I wanted, I’m good now.

(10) The Inspector General issued a report stating Strzok and Page had never “attempted to circumvent” the FBI’s data-retention policies.

So when the President of the United States tweets about this, he is actually:

- Ignoring what his own Inspector General has said
- Parroting a right-wing conspiracy theory
- Inventing a pretend outrage
- Deliberately lying that the texts were deleted and lost for ever
- Pretending the missing texts would vindicate him, even though they aren’t missing

Biggest outrage yet in the long, winding and highly conflicted Mueller Witch Hunt is the fact that 19,000 demanded Text messages between Peter Strzok and his FBI lover, Lisa Page, were purposely & illegally deleted. Would have explained whole Hoax, which is now under protest!

So where are all the missing Text messages between fired FBI agents Peter S and the lovely Lisa Page, his lover. Just reported that they have been erased and wiped clean. What an outrage as the totally compromised and conflicted Witch Hunt moves ever so slowly forward. Want them!

Wow, 19,000 Texts between Lisa Page and her lover, Peter S of the FBI, in charge of the Russia Hoax, were just reported as being wiped clean and gone. Such a big story that will never be covered by the Fake News. Witch Hunt!

Casual observers might be left wondering why these claims by Trump are so pathetic... In his game of chess with Mueller a whole bunch of pieces are threatening mate, but Trump is pinning his hopes on a pawn that does nothing whatsoever.

For the zillionth time, he could have been charged with more. The judge obviously felt he could have been as well.

The judge didn't feel it, he asked the prosecution whether he could have been charged with conspiracy and illegally acting as an agent of a foreign government re Turkey along with his business partner yesterday, and was explicitly told yes. He knew, for a fact, that Flynn could have been charged with much more serious crimes.

Just wait until Flynn's cheerleaders start finding out about all the tasty treats he sang to Mueller about.....

Flynn will suddenly slip down the ladder of evolution from "Justice For Flynn" to "Lying Flaky Flynn"

Yup. As I said above, I have no idea why he's suddenly become this huge injustice that needs ranting about. He's been dishing the dirt on Trump. Everybody involved, from Mueller, to Flynn's lawers, to Flynn all agree that he's given Mueller "substantial assistance". The judge reiterated that today.

The way Flynn has acted is bad news for Trump. Very bad news.

This honeymoon period will not last. Just like Michael "rat" Cohen's didn't.

Any Trump supporters still defending Flynn just engage your brain for a second - Flynn has acted in exactly the same way that Cohen did. If one of them is a bad person because of it, then the other is, too.

Take some deep breaths. Sit back close your eyes and relax. Play some calming music. You really need to watch that blood pressure. You obviously feel bad that things are falling apart for your leader and your party, but your health is important too. Take a little time to smell the roses and live to fight another day. The time may come when you will actually be correct about something related to Individual1 and his collection of criminals and idiots. You will want to be here to enjoy that.

Man, the Judge basically walked back everything he said before the break, but you will be sure that the lefty press ignores that part.

Damn, based on the judge's history, I was hopeful that he would scrutinize the government's action more closely, instead it appears that his lifelong appointment has broken the judge.

Too bad

Thank you for thinking for yourself. It does provide entertainment value.

The Judge perhaps feels that Flynn is getting off too lightly with the plea to lying to the FBI when much bigger crimes were dropped from the charge sheet. Like allowing a murderer to plea deal down to low level assault.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd hate to interrupt a spittle tossing rant, but did the judge actually claim Flynn was a traitor? I seem to have read that he asked if he could have been charged with it. Perhaps I'm wrong?

Prosecutor Brandon Van Grack, who initially demurred on the treason question, said that he is confident that Flynn did NOT commit treason and that that is not an issue.

No ****

Continue to pretend that the legal definition of 'treason' in the US is the same thing as the general understanding of betraying one's country.

Hmm, Obama fires Flynn from the DIA for being too tough on radical jihadists
Trump says he is going to hire Flynn as NSA
Never Trump Obama era hold overs set up Flynn
Mueller tries to take him down.

From fighting conspiracy theorists to becoming one. 16.5's tragic descent into The Big Dog.

What I've read of it sounds like exactly that. Also of note is that this question was coming from a person who wasn't looking at a heavily redacted version (and likely while he was reviewing the material in the first place?), unlike what's available to us. TBD and the right-wing nonsense factories are just proving, yet again, that they despise the rule of law, paying lip service to it only when it suits them.

"Arguably you sold your country out," Sullivan told Flynn in a extraordinary tongue-lashing that raised the prospect that the judge could send the retired Army lieutenant general to prison, even though prosecutors have recommended against prison time, citing his cooperation in the Russia probe.

He's wondering why Flynn is getting off so lightly.

Which hasn't been in high supply as of lately.

Isn't it ultimately up to him how harshly he gets punished? And that the prosecutions recommendations are not binding (given, it would be awkward to diverge too much from those recommendations but it seems to me he could still put him behind bars for a long time)

Judge just asked if Flynn committed treason...

"That was not something we were considering at the time, charging the defendant."

the judge has lost his damn mind...

Niagara Falls! Slowly I turn. Step by step. Inch by inch....

(Ten points each for Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor for predicting this turnabout. It seems that the judge was working for The Dark Lord all along. Who'd a thunk it?)
