Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

When Trump was first elected, I saw interviews with supporters who said exactly that. One woman, for example, was going on and on about the evils of Obamacare. The interviewer asked her whether she relied on the ACA and she said that yes, she'd not be able to afford the medicine she needed with out it. The reporter told her than Obamacare was just another name for the ACA and she wasn't having any of it. It simply wasn't true, as far as she was concerned.

Some examples:

As the Trump shutdown looms, just think of the optics:

Trump is already booked at Mar a Lago over the holidays for a 16 day stretch. I have a hard time picturing him foregoing an extended golf hiatus, mindful of optics, and staying behind in that shabby old White House to hammer out a deal. This alone suggests a stopgap deal will be struck before vacation.

Every option reinforces Nancy and Chuck's ownership of him.
It's even worse. Trump golfing while his secret service detail is going without paychecks.

Women have come forward with such claims, no one cared before. You forget the rape claims after the access Hollywood tape? No one cared then. So it doesn't seem a strong argument that it would have come out before when it did come out before.

I am specifically referring to telling teenage girls if they want to be in the Miss Universe contest they have to come to his hotel room.

Of course Trump abuses women and no doubt he's moved on teenagers. I have not heard any reports the girls had to screw Trump. It was reported he picked which girls he wanted in the contest and he walked in on them in the dressing room. I just don't recall the contestants had to sleep with him.

I'm sure they'll be coming up with a great plan any day now.

...

Any day now.

...

Yep, any day now ...

They've come up with a great plan.... to increase the Dems lead in the House, hand them the Senate and White House, and turn another dozen state houses.

The eighteen state AGs that pursued this have handed another volatile issue to the Dems. They've also put targets on their own backs. The entire purpose of the suit is to quash Obamacare. They have no plan. Which entrail reader is Trump listening to on the GOP side who has a plan to reduce the deductible. When they trot it out, it'll smack of "privatize the whole thing and let Big Insurance take care of it".

I'm not clear it was implied to them that it might be a good idea that might increase their chances of winning and/or being provided with other opportunities. But somehow I am left with the impression that Trump was more interested in sleeping with women he could show off to his friends and he knew that it would too be embarrassing to do that with his contestants.

The next time any Trump supporter uses any kind of term like "snowflake", or "safe space", we can just remind them that Trump wanted Saturday Night Live made illegal for not being sufficiently deferential.

More broadly, I don't see how the GOP can credibly complain about anything the Dems do in the upcoming election without coming off as a world-class hypocrites.

That doesn't seem to have encumbered them in recent years.

I think her idea is that they want to be able to complain that they are being denied prayer in schools. And so if they ever got it they'd lose a favorite complaining point.
Same goes for abortion. If they were really opposed to abortion they would get behind birth control. But they aren't because (in part, at least) they need the issue to rally the knuckle-draggers.

Hell, they don't even know why they hate it.

Actually, they have a central idea that explains their hatred of the ACA, namely, that government is part of the problem, not part of a solution. They simply cannot abide any program that is run by the government - especially if it is successful. This is similar to their constant harping on entitlements as if they are the scourge of mankind. Their ideal budget cuts would decimate social security, medicare, etc.

They see, and state explicitly, that these programs are huge steps down the road to unbridled socialism and that is to be feared above all else. And that is what the GOP sells:fear. Fear of socialism, fear of blacks, fear of immigrants, ....
it's fear all the way down.

That also partially explains Dump. He sells fear constantly - no wonder the rank-and-file Republican approves of him. He confirms their deep fears and tells them they are right to be afraid.

Trump policies should push Britain to reduce its ties to US, say peers

The report says: “The US administration has taken a number of high-profile unilateral foreign policy decisions that are contrary to the interests of the United Kingdom. US withdrawal from the Paris agreement on climate change, the Iran nuclear deal and the UN human rights council, and the imposition of trade tariffs on its allies, undermine efforts to tackle pressing global challenges of critical importance to the UK.
“The UK has struggled to influence the administration, which is, in part, a reflection of a broader shift in the US towards a more inward-looking ‘America first’ stance, with less focus on the transatlantic alliance or multilateralism. In future, the government will need to place less reliance on reaching a common US-UK approach to the main issues of the day than has often been the case in the past”.

The report describes US foreign policy as deliberately chaotic.

I hope the people over at the Fed will read today’s Wall Street Journal Editorial before they make yet another mistake. Also, don’t let the market become any more illiquid than it already is. Stop with the 50 B’s. Feel the market, don’t just go by meaningless numbers. Good luck!

Facebook, Twitter and Google are so biased toward the Dems it is ridiculous! Twitter, in fact, has made it much more difficult for people to join @realDonaldTrump. They have removed many names & greatly slowed the level and speed of increase. They have acknowledged-done NOTHING!

It's been a pretty common phenomenon for a while. Obamacare provides affordable health insurance to illegal immigrants, welfare queens, and other undeserving cheats and losers. The ACA provides affordable health insurance to good, decent, hard-working Americans.

Correction: Obamacare gives free insurance to people they don't like, while they have to pay for the ACA.

Illegal immigration costs the United States more than 200 Billion Dollars a year. How was this allowed to happen?

How have they made it more difficult?

And the bolded bit implies that a lot of his followers were bots.
After all, that's who they've been removing over the past few months.

"Feel the market". No doubt Trump thinks he has great personal chemistry with the market, and the market thinks he's a genius.

He seems to have picked up a new word he doesn't understand -"illiquid". Must have heard someone say it on FoxNews.

Exactly once we kick into high gear with the hyper inflation his policies would cause everyone will be millionaires!(a million dollars will not buy a loaf of bread but everyone will have it)
