Trump inaugural committee

Ah, I knew I had forgotten one! Thanks!

Updated list:

  • Trump Organization
  • Trump charities
  • Tump presidential campaign
  • Trump Transition
  • Trump inaugural committee
  • Trump Administration
And, add in the family members.

ETA: I have been pwned by Squeegee's list. I, for one, welcome my new list-making overlord.

Seriously: The investigations, the antagonism toward democracy, the corruption, and all of its influence on the Republican party is just too much. We have a big hole to climb out of. Meanwhile, the climate races ahead, unabated.

Sleep well tonight. /s

Absolutely amazing! And it's gotten relatively little press...

<snipped most of post>

Per the article that's how she wanted it. But there are a lot of things that haven't gotten the press they deserved, TBH.

A lot of U.S. based companies are heavily invested in China. A bad Chinese economy is bad news for them.

If Trump were a real businessman he'd understand that.

I'm not surprised no-one wants the job. Would you want to take the wheel of a ship that's on a 30° list and 15° bow down while taking on water faster than the bilge pumps can pump it out?

Except you wouldn't be actually taking the wheel. Just trying to manage the bilge pumps while the Captain continues to steer onto the rocks.

Many people have asked how we are doing in our negotiations with North Korea - I always reply by saying we are in no hurry, there is wonderful potential for great economic success for that country....

....Kim Jong Un sees it better than anyone and will fully take advantage of it for his people. We are doing just fine!

I am sure he will take full advantage of Donald.

Yeah, the North Korean leadership has always shown such compassion and concern for the North Korean People.
It's one think to have to business with a ruthless dictator, to kiss his butt is another.

From what I have gathered when encountering Trump wall fanatics, it seems they really believe the wall will stop what they see as a threat. As stupid as it is to everyone else, they don't see why it's stupid.

So they believe that the wall will stop robot technology from entering the country and reducing the number of factory jobs. And that it will stop those European tree huggers who come over to explain why coal really is a bad choice for energy production. And it will stop South American socialists who want to destroy the American economy. And it will will stop all the foreigners who want to come here and explain why the president is a clownish incompetent leader. And it will stop homosexuality and atheism and feminism.

I started writing this as a joke, but realized that you are right and that there are some folks who really wish for a wall that could do all those things - as well as keep out calendars made after 1958.

As the Trump shutdown looms, just think of the optics:

Trump is already booked at Mar a Lago over the holidays for a 16 day stretch. I have a hard time picturing him foregoing an extended golf hiatus, mindful of optics, and staying behind in that shabby old White House to hammer out a deal. This alone suggests a stopgap deal will be struck before vacation.

Every option reinforces Nancy and Chuck's ownership of him.

Wait. Did you just suggest that President Trump is so mindful of optics that he would forego a golf vacation? [gigglesnort]

I think Donnie is about to find out that what John Adams said is still true today: Facts Are Stubborn Things.

I often stated, “One way or the other, Mexico is going to pay for the Wall.” This has never changed. Our new deal with Mexico (and Canada), the USMCA, is so much better than the old, very costly & anti-USA NAFTA deal, that just by the money we save, MEXICO IS PAYING FOR THE WALL!
I wonder, when estimating the financial windfalls, from Trump's policies, whether Trump and his minions have considered the following:

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/dec/13/butterfly-sanctuary-border-wall-mission-texas
...the most diverse butterfly sanctuary in the country, and other protected areas in the lower Rio Grande Valley along the US-Mexico border, are under threat. Last week, the US supreme court issued a ruling allowing the Trump administration to waive 28 federal laws, including the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Air Act, and begin construction on 33 new miles of border wall in the heart of the valley – and right through the butterfly center....“Environmental tourism contributes more than $450m to Hidalgo and Starr counties,” said Wright, referring to the adjacent counties in the valley. “Many of the properties people choose to visit to see birds, butterflies and threatened and endangered species are all going to be behind the border wall. For us, the economic impact is potentially catastrophic.”

Ignoring the environmental problems that a wall will cause (because, lets face it, republicans don't care about the environment), they should care about the economics of it. The wall will harm tourism. It will take away millions of dollars from the economy (that might have otherwise been spent on services for people visiting the area).

I was meaning specifically the particular threat they picture of folks from across the border coming to "take their jobs"/"live on the dole"/"make them have to press 2 to listen to the message in English", as overblown as those fears are.

It reminds me of a number of years ago, when New York State wanted to shut down a pheasant farm operated by the NY Dept. of Environmental Conservation because it was a "waste of money". It was pointed out that the approximately 30,000 pheasants raised and released into the wild every year brought in far more money than the farm cost, between hunting licenses and out of state hunters bringing business into the state.

I am beginning to tingle just a little bit with the hope that we will look back and see this as the very beginning of when Trump lost his political power. The willingness of the Senate to counter Trump's position on Saudi Arabia, the Khashoggi killing, and the war in Yemen is one such positive sign. But it is even more significant that so many potential candidates have realized that joining Trump's administration as Chief of Staff is currently equivalent to being invited to eat a weasel-on-toast sandwich. A weasel-on-toast sandwich, served rare with bacon, mayo, and California Romaine lettuce and already rotting. They can detect the smell even from outside and they know it will sicken them and their careers.

I also continue to believe that Trump's support among other Republican leaders is not only fragile, but will quickly turn to strong, blatant opposition and acts of political revenge as soon as they perceive Trump as adequately weakened. Trump has spent multiple years demeaning, insulting, and bullying these people; they are just waiting for a chance at payback. The turn around will be swift once it begins. IMHO.

Much like the reaction of a pack of wild dogs once the former pack alpha shows weakness...

I wonder how his supporters will react.

Honestly? I fear violence. But I just don't know. I hope that Trump ends up looking like a clown rather than a martyr. And/or that his supporters finally recognize that he betrayed them and their hopes in him...
