Good morning Captain_Swoop.

Those first two Tweets were 10 minutes apart. (It took him a long time to finish his, and I use this word loosely, thought.) In those 10 minutes, I suspect someone was banging on his door, got in, and explained that he still needs a wall.

He has added the following

.....I look forward to my meeting with Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi. In 2006, Democrats voted for a Wall, and they were right to do so. Today, they no longer want Border Security. They will fight it at all cost, and Nancy must get votes for Speaker. But the Wall will get built...

...People do not yet realize how much of the Wall, including really effective renovation, has already been built. If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall. They know how important it is!

Buwaha!
He thinks the Pentagon is going to spend its budget on the Wall?
Never mind the fact that the DOJ has stated that there was no possible reason for Trump sending 5,000 troops near the border before the Midterms.

Trump Tweets

Very productive conversations going on with China! Watch for some important announcements!

Trump Tweets

Fake News has it purposely wrong. Many, over ten, are vying for and wanting the White House Chief of Staff position. Why wouldn’t someone want one of the truly great and meaningful jobs in Washington. Please report news correctly. Thank you!

Many Pinata!

A Plethora.

I hope he hears Steve Schmidt's rant about him this morning.

to wit -

“As we watch this unfold from public turning down of this by a 36-year-old political operative (Nick Ayers), all you can say when you look at it, though it is tragic, what a joke, what a farce this all has become in slightly less than two years since Donald Trump raised his hand, swore the 35-word oath of office and then has proceeded to desecrate it every moment of his presidential term since that moment where he said, ‘So help me God.'” - Steve Schmidt, former Republican strategist.

I continue to hope Trump serves the remainder of his term and is then voted out of office in 2020. If he is impeached or otherwise forced from office I fear him being cast as a martyr. His backers have already seriously degraded and damaged our democracy. With Trump as martyr who knows how crazy things may become. :(

I think the best way for the nation to "heal" is to see Trump rejected by a majority of the voters followed by an Electoral College loss. I think it is almost a certainty his core supporters will then claim the election was rigged -- as Trump himself said about the 2016 election (and as he still seems to saying) -- but I don't think that accusation will play well.

I truly believe having him voted out of office is the best alternative.

Yes and no.

If there is good evidence that Trump actually conspired with the Russians, then whether he is removed or voted out, he should face serious criminal charges. If this happens under a Democratic administration, then he will still be considered a martyr to a rigged system.

In some ways, having a Republican Senate remove him from office may be a little better. But his true believers will think that he is a victim of the Republican establishment working with the Democrats in that case.

No matter what, his core believers are likely to dispute Mueller's findings.

(Again, I'm not saying that Mueller will claim Trump conspired with the Russians. It seems plausible that he did and it seems plausible that Mueller has or will find good evidence if so, in which case justice requires an eventual indictment.)

I've actually tried, as best as anyone can, to try and step back from this whole mess and try to think what's actually best for the country.

Getting Trump out of office is a given. But here's the thing any impeachment proceeding is gonna take a while and honestly even under the best of circumstances I see cutting his term short by... a year tops and would just leave us with Pence who is noticeably better but still... Pence. Voting him out in 2020 might functionally accomplish mostly the same thing. And yes the impeachment of Trump will with a metaphysical certainty lead to greater tribalism, each side seeing the other side as the enemy even more, both sides digging in more, and will result in the Republicans doing something to try and punish the Democrats to save face.

But the idea of letting someone get away with something because of the political cosequences offends me on a deep level despite how much I "get" it on a practical one.

I don't have any easy, quippy wrapped up with a bow, complete package answer about how I feel.

It isn't like impeachment can happen. As long as the base supports him republican senators simply won't convict him. And they are all totally primed to ignore any facts in favor or what ever truth they are told to believe.

Dura lex sed lex. If he committed a crime he should be ousted and then charged and convicted. No one is above the law.

That's more or less the end of democracy and the start of a military dictatorship. Congress doesn't authorize the funds? OK I'll just have the military with its gargantuan annual budget do it.

If these were normal times that tweet would've been huge news.

And I agree. We just can't pretend like the tribes aren't going to still running things after he's gone and "Impeachment of a President from my Tribe" is one of those things the Republicans, even the ones who hate Trump or would hypothetically support his impeachment, would have to by the rules of the game get back at the Democrats for to save face.

You think tribalism and whataboutism are bad now?

Again I'm not saying we shouldn't do it for those reasons, just that we need to steel ourselves for what is to follow.

They're just waiting to see if they get turned down by America's Got Talent first.

Oh, absolutely. There is no doubt about it now: things are about to get really ugly in the world, for all sorts of reasons, and all of those are going to distract us from the real danger; one that threatens to end us.

Yep.

I'm trying very, very hard to impress upon my Democratic, Liberal, and Progressive friends that they really, really need to stop looking at the impeachment of Trump as the end of the battle.

It's not even the beginning of the battle. It's the catalyst for the beginning of the battle.

Easy. Long lost, hereto unmentioned cousin... errrr Bob Trump. Yeah that's it, Bob Trump. *Out walks one of the Trump sons in a wig and pair of Groucho Marx glasses and nose.*
