Hill writes Comey article based on everything we knew already
https://thehill.com/opinion/white-h...ier-not-verified-before-or-after-fisa-warrant
even though most of the Steele document (all but pee pee tapes) is now fact
DB finds content in before election 4 people who knew most
https://www.thedailybeast.com/mueller-is-telling-us-hes-got-trump-on-collusion?ref=scroll

The term collusion seems to be a sort of "planning a conspiracy" or " get me some dirt but don't tell me how" state. The legal term is conspiracy.
Right away the Hill article starts off with a Hannity et al CT that the FISA warrant was based on the Dossier. It's been repeated regularly that the warrant was based on Papadopoulos shooting his drunk mouth off in a bar to the Aussie Ambassador.

Trump tweets

On 245 occasions, former FBI Director James Comey told House investigators he didn’t know, didn’t recall, or couldn’t remember things when asked. Opened investigations on 4 Americans (not 2) - didn’t know who signed off and didn’t know Christopher Steele. All lies!

Leakin’ James Comey must have set a record for who lied the most to Congress in one day. His Friday testimony was so untruthful! This whole deal is a Rigged Fraud headed up by dishonest people who would do anything so that I could not become President. They are now exposed!

Trump is becoming even more desperate. Tweets like this remind me of the protestations I hear from people the cops stop for a traffic violation and then find crack on them: "It's not mine. Someone put it in my pocket. I don't know nuthin' about it. I swear to God, it's not mine. I ain't gonna lie to you, Officer!"

Anyone else find it ironic that he's accusing Comey of setting a record for lying?

I was thinking something similar, but I wouldn't call it irony. Trump projects that everyone is as dirty and sleazy as him. It is Trump's MO. He's the Pee Wee Herman of politics. It's a constant refrain of 'I know you are, but what am I'.

But he doesn't know that anything Comey said was a lie. But then you knew that.

I do hold it against comey for not answering all the questions, though.

Edit: Forgot the FTFY!

Fair warning Stacy: Don't go down the black hole that is Bob.

I'm aware of that danger. I was just curious what his reasoning could possibly be.

Assumes facts not in evidence.

Another update:
The Russian ambassador. A deputy prime minister. A pop star, a weightlifter, a lawyer, a Soviet army veteran with alleged intelligence ties.

Again and again and again, over the course of Donald Trump’s 18-month campaign for the presidency, Russian citizens made contact with his closest family and friends, as well as figures on the periphery of his orbit.

Some offered to help his campaign and his real estate business. Some offered dirt on his Democratic opponent. Repeatedly, Russian nationals suggested Trump should hold a peacemaking sit-down with Vladi*mir Putin — and offered to broker such a summit.

In all, Russians interacted with at least 14 Trump associates during the campaign and presidential transition, public records and interviews show. “It is extremely unusual,” said Michael McFaul, who served as ambassador to Russia under President Barack Obama. “Both the number of contacts and the nature of the contacts are extraordinary.”

Sadly, this is true:

The White House is adopting what one official termed a “shrugged shoulders” strategy for the Mueller findings, calculating that most GOP base voters will believe whatever the president tells them to believe.

Trump's base gave up thinking for themselves long ago. Now they wait for his daily tweets to find out what they think.

Yeah. I guess not.

It's funny how in that picture it makes Trump almost look aggravated that he had to actually lift his leg to step up onto that platform.

I actually hope you are correct, but I don't see Carlson's interview as indicative of any change in the conservative media weather vane. I think the only way that will change is if Mueller's report shows absolute and serious criminal activity by Trump. Nothing as bland as the Stormy Daniels campaign finance crimes will do the trick. The conservatives will brush that off like dandruff. It needs to be Russian money laundering, collusion (conspiring), etc to get through their bias.

I agree - I doubt anyone starts talking seriously about impeachment based on campaign finance crimes. Add in several counts of obstruction... maybe. But it's getting pretty clear that the Mueller has the goods on at least some of what the obstruction and lies are covering up.

I'd be surprised if Republican strategists don't have a clearer picture of Individual 1's international dealings than any of us and I'd also be surprised if they didn't already have plans in place for the last couple of years for how a change at the top might be managed.

There are some pretty key unknowns that factor in though: whether Pence is implicated, whether many in the party are also neck-deep in this stuff and/or have their own kompromat fears or if there's some democracy-crushing nefarious power-grab plan we're yet to see.

Otherwise, I'm not seeing a better move than a media reprogramming of the base and moving to position themselves as patriots when they back impeachment - with Pence or someone else of their choosing ending up looking particularly heroic throughout the whole affair. and I suspect they might need to start such a plan fairly soon.

I get the impression with the GOP that Pence has been their chosen guy all along. He has been told to play quiet-like, say vaguely supportive stuff about the boss-guy if needed, and try to look unthreatening. Trump will be the useful fricken idiot to get them in power, and when he crashes spectacularly, the big chair is Pence's even without vote-rigging needed. Of course, once there, there's a litany of repressive legislation and actions they would rather like him to push...

The problem has been that Trump has managed to scuttle just about all the prep work the GOP wanted done for their agenda, with the exception of the tax cuts. Then Trump's cluster-**** efforts took the House off them in a near-record mid-term loss, and public opinion is swinging against them too. So now they are recalculating. Perhaps it is time for Trump to...fall from grace...before the GOP loses any more grip on power. Note some GOP congress critters are now contradicting Trump more often?

Consider what the GOP accomplished because Trump was elected. They got a massive tax cut passed and 2 Supreme Court Justices appointed, They have weakened the EPA. OK. So they lost the House. But they are probably calculating they have been playing with found money. None of that would have happened if not for the orange turd. Not that Trump did anything

Now, I have no illusions. I think the vast majority of Republican leaders hate Trump. But he's been a means to an end. But you have to wonder if they might start thinking it's time to cut bait. I don't think Trump has any chance of ever being reelected and if he's on the ticket, the GOP probably loses the Senate as well. So, I would be shocked if behind the scenes others might start looking to get rid of him. But of course they are afraid Trump won't go quietly.

Yep, how to drop (and silence) the monster they helped create, keep enough of the base (somehow blame the Dems), while appealing more to independents?

It'd be remarkable if they can pull that off. Might have been easier if they'd actually lost both houses in the midterms.

Yeah, looks like it. They've squeezed the orange dry and it's starting to stink.

Good point, I missed it because I was to impressed by how well they'd Photoshopped out the dog leash.
