Reportedly, Trump is trying to poach Mike Pence's Chief-of-Staff to replace Kelly:

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/07/nick-ayers-white-house-trump-john-kelly-1052211

I think this might be on of the stupidest thing Trump will ever do in terms of self-harm: I have no doubt Nick Ayers would help Pence become President if he sees an advantage in doing so. And the Chief-of-Staff is a critical part of any 25th Amendment solution.

Nick Ayers would help Mortimer Snerd run for President. He's a hired gun and he's good at it but I've seen nothing to suggest he has any more loyalty than the other hacks like Kelly Ann.

Very sad day & night in Paris. Maybe it’s time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The U.S. was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!

WTF!?

Trump Tweets

Watched Da Nang Dick Blumenthal on television spewing facts almost as accurate as his bravery in Vietnam (which he never saw). As the bullets whizzed by Da Nang Dicks head, as he was saving soldiers....

....left and right, he then woke up from his dream screaming that HE LIED. Next time I go to Vietnam I will ask “the Dick” to travel with me!

You know who was brave in Vietnam?
Robert Mueller.
He was shot while saving others.
Then he went back into action.

Damn those Bone Spurs, but at least Trump avoided STDs.

Yes, I can see the screengrabs. Who is Da Nang Dick Blumenthal? Did he fight in Vietnam?

Richard Blumenthal is an American attorney and politician who has served as a United States Senator from Connecticut since 2011. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He has been the state's senior senator since 2013 and is ranked as the second wealthiest member of the Senate. Wikipedia

Next question is what triggered this bat crap crazy reaction.

Fox News normalisation of the president making decisions from a position of willful ingorance, while reflecting on the recent Tilerson comments.

"It's what the voters wanted"

Of course, because Trump is a magic man, he knows all the answers without knowing a thing about the questions.

I disagree. And even if the posters who see this differently than you are wrong, "please stop" isn't called for.

Despite the bravado, Trump is deeply insecure. He has an inferiority complex and well he should. He's a loser, and deep down he knows it.

...
The whole pomp and circumstance over Bush's funeral no doubt drove the point home as well. He can put on a facade that he doesn't care but in reality he has to know his funeral will not be one like it.

I still maintain my position.

In a recent interview, Anthony Scaramucci explained that the president is not thin-skinned. When someone says something critical of President Trump, he responds with insults and name calling not because his feelings are hurt. He responds that way because up until this point, that was the most effective way to stop future criticism. DJT has previously said that his philosophy is that when he is hit, he hits back twice as hard. He never considers the criticism valid, he simply wants people to not say untrue bad things about such a wonderful guy.
Has it crossed your mind Scaramucci was rationalizing?

Yes, there is no doubt at all that the president is creating anger-fueled chaos in the White House, but that is not because he is fearful of the public really learning that he is incompetitant, that is because he is too ignorant of how government works and he is too stupid to (a) learn from his mistakes, (b) admit that other people are more knowledgeable than him, and (c) admit that other people are smarter than him. He sees himself as the boss of the American government and is baffled when subordinates, subordinates, say he doesn’t have the power to fire Mueller. He’s the boss.
The timing of tantrums as reported by witnesses in the WH often followed some pubic embarrassment.

Another example, in a Chris Wallace interview, he mentioned that President Trump once ran a casino. The president responded “You’re right. very successfully, actually.” A normal person would not give that response after filing bankruptcy on his or her casinos. But DJT feels no shame because his goal was not to ensure the casinos turned a profit, his goal was to ensure that he turned a profit - and he did. He really doesn’t care what other people think about his bankruptcy because he has exactly one measure of success: has this transaction given me more power or more money.
No, this is Trump rationalizing why his losses were really a win. It's not that after things like low attendance at his inauguration he never mentions it again. No, he went to all kinds of lengths to convince others he had incredible numbers. That is Trump compensating for an ego blow by building a whole fantasy around it. But the fact he had to keep trying to convince everyone else shows deep insecurity about said attendance.

IWhy else would a NYC billionaire feel the need to repeatedly cheat contractors out of a few hundred thousands of dollars? He doesn’t care about bad optics on that because he doesn’t understand that being that cheap and that unscrupulous makes him look bad. If he was insecure about what other people thought of him, then he wouldn't just tell stories about how generous he is to charities, he would actually be generous to charities.
His insecurity is exactly why he lies about his charitable giving. How do you not see that?

As for cheating contractors, I imagine that's a combination between his personal pettiness over some slight and his actual bank account being much lower than he pretends. Chances are all those billions are offset by even more debt.

My take on those events is that he was not humiliated, he was angered.

The laughter at the UN was not a piece of inescapable evidence that broke through the delusion and showed him how poorly he was seen my the international community. The delusion stood strong and the laughter, in his mind, was not laughter aimed at how silly his assertions were but rather laughter at how correct his assertions were (or at the very least laughter arising from jealousy).

If he were concerned about appearing incompetitant, he would pick a story and stick with it. But he doesn’t. He is always ready to adopt a different position on any issue if he thinks it will generate literal or figurative applause from the people standing in front of him at that particular moment. He is prepared to give conflicting explanations of what he believes in the very same day - sometimes in the very same press conference.

He is not a normal person and does not have normal reactions to things.
Sorry but your comments lack insight here. Trump is constantly compensating for his severe insecurity with his delusions. If you understood that you'd have those answers to your comments.

Trump was so embarrassed by the Correspondents' Dinner that he's spent the last two years getting back at Obama by executive orders.

Yes, I can see the screengrabs. Who is Da Nang Dick Blumenthal? Did he fight in Vietnam?

The controversy, such as it is, about Blumenthal is that he was in the service during the Vietnam war, but was never actually deployed to Vietnam. Apparently he sometimes referred to his time in the Marine Corps Reserves as "in Vietnam," rather than "during Vietnam."

It seems pretty clear that he was referring to veterans generally as "we," not to his personal service. In any case, he's no saint, but if that's the worst thing you can say about him, he's a paragon of virtue in comparison to Trump and his enablers.

Well, now we've got "Science under Siege at the Department of the Interior" from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

There's a short summation of the report on the Daily Kos.

It is an exhaustive chronicle of the actions that Trump’s corporate flunkies at Interior, led by Zinke, have taken to intentionally destroy or sell off our natural environment over the past two years. The report shows that the installation of Zinke has already resulted in far-reaching and potentially irreparable harm to our public lands, for the singular purpose of engorging the corporate profits of oil and gas drilling companies and their top executives, who are now afforded an unprecedented opportunity to profit handsomely from the plundering of our nation’s national resources. As the report describes it, the pillaging that is taking place right now by these companies—without any input by the public and scant evidence that they will actually serve the public interest--- will have far-reaching, long-term health and environmental consequences for all of us.

The report is divided up into four major sections, each detailing a specific pattern of systematic abuse at Interior. These include the suppression of science-based research that traditionally underlies the Department’s activities (such as eliminating studies to determine the health impact of mountaintop coal removal, or to assess the safety of offshore drilling rigs), the silencing and intimidation of thousands agency scientists and staff (of whom Clement is an example), the unchecked and eager sale of public lands to satisfy corporate demands, and the deliberate failure to act on or plan for the effects of climate change to the country’s resources and environment.

MAGA in action!
