I know this is old news. Ho-hum what else is new? The events of the past two years are so surreal, the threat to democracy so sudden, that I'm stunned and slow to react. The insanity spewing forth from President Whack Job is so relentless that people become inured.

The Justice Department says in a new court filing that when it comes to FISA declassifciation, President Trump doesn't know what he's tweeting about.

Also DOJ: When President Trump quotes somebody on Twitter accusing his government of wrongdoing, that "cannot be assumed to be his confirmation of the media reporting based on government information, and it is not evidence of government misconduct."

DOJ also says that when President Trump comments on national security matters on Twitter, that doesn't mean his statements are accurate, or that he has any personal knowledge that they are correct.

DOJ's argument that the president shouldn't be presumed to know what he's talking about is a pretty remarkable one, and it's not one I'd seen the government make before 2017. Now there's a fair amount of caselaw on it.

Yeah, "Jesus ****** Christ" pretty much sums it up. This is an outrage. As someone else noted, it's like Abu Grahib all over again.

You gotta hand it to Trump, though. His strategy seems to be to just flood us with so many scandals and weird things to digest (red christmas trees that look like the aiens in Sesame street, wearing handmaid hats) that he gets away with stuff simply because the media can't cover it all, and we can't digest it fully.

I was very much looking forward to having a press conference just prior to leaving Argentina because we have had such great success in our dealing with various countries and their leaders at the G20....

....However, out of respect for the Bush Family and former President George H.W. Bush we will wait until after the funeral to have a press conference.

Under what circumstances do you imagine a president might appoint Donald Trump to be ambassador to China, ambassador to the UN, or CIA director?
