GM closing plants and laying off people:

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/nov/26/general-motors-set-to-cut-workforce-as-slowing-sales-and-steel-tariffs-bite
General Motors has announced it will halt production at five North American facilities and cut 14,700 jobs as it deals with slowing sedan sales and the impact of Donald Trump’s tariffs.

More than 6,000 blue-collar jobs will be hit by GM plans to stop production at a car plant in Canada and two more in Ohio and Michigan. Two transmission plants in the US will also be mothballed, putting the future of those plants in doubt.

The cuts will also include 15% of GM’s 54,000 white-collar workforce, about 8,100 people, and come as 18,000 GM workers have been asked to accept voluntary redundancy.

Kindly read the thread. And, perhaps, even the text you quoted.

Oh I certainly did!

I was told to read the text and the "context."

The context of course being that Osama was just killed by Seal Team Six, at which point Erdogan's apologist wrote that he was "heartbroken."

poor Osama, once so beautiful!

Could you exaggerate any more Big Dog? You never ever address the real issue and that is our scumbag President pathetic reaction to a member of America's free press being lured to Turkey where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia murdered and dismembered him.

Don't you see? Trump is encouraging an assault on the free Press.
Life is sacred. Unless, apparently, your life includes at one point interviewing bin Laden and trying to understand him, then in the end being disappointed at the path he took. Then Saudi Arabia is ok to dismember you. #life #catholic

I think we all misunderstood Trump. When he said he was bringing back jobs, I think he meant job openings.

Wait, did you really just suggest that his entire relationship with Osama was to interview him at "one point"? That is shameful.

The full quote is:
At the time, Khashoggi tweeted, "I collapsed crying a while ago, heartbroken for you Abu Abdullah (a nickname for Osama bin Laden). You were beautiful and brave in those beautiful days in Afghanistan, before you surrendered to hatred and passion."

Khashoggi first met bin Laden when OBL was a fighting against the Soviets in Afghanistan -- not coincidentally the same side the U.S. was on, and there is continuing dispute about whether he might even have received U.S. help.

You're promoting right-wing slurs.
Hard-line Republicans and conservative commentators are mounting a whispering campaign against Jamal Khashoggi that is designed to protect President Trump from criticism of his handling of the dissident journalist’s alleged murder by operatives of Saudi Arabia — and support Trump’s continued aversion to a forceful response to the oil-rich desert kingdom.

The big point is that it doesn't matter what a journalist thinks or writes. People who don't like him don't get to murder and dismember him and get away with it.

I know more than the General (Motors), believe me!

I'm not sure the Big Dog understands the value of honesty, integrity and a free press.

In my entire life I never imagined a President more antithetical to the foundational values of America then Richard Nixon. And then we elected Donald Trump and since that moment, this nation and its principles have been under constant assault by a President with no respect for them.

The Kashoggi incident is only the latest. I can't imagine playing straw man games with this.
Kashoggi wasn't a supporter of OBL. He admired the man BEFORE he was an enemy of the US. To assert otherwise is disgusting and dishonest.

My question For the Big Dog is does he value Freedom of the Press? Does he think it is an essential component to the people's check against the government? If you do, why do you condone the murder of a reporter?

Hey, I just take it that TBD agrees with everyone here - since no one is advocating war.

except, you know, that guy that was.

I am also against drone murders, or the Clinton/Obama foreign diplomacy model.

say, what does everyone else think the US should do?

Trump tweets

While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition. Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair....

....and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!

It could be called Pravda
