Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

Putting forward that these scientists' are fabricating findings that are hostile to the interests of the wealthiest corporations in the world for the money is a really stupid position. Gotta get that sweet government grant money I guess.

Many of them sounding the warnings are government scientists. To the point where -- per example below -- various government officials are banning discussions of climate change by various agencies. Below are comments written a year ago by an intern working at the federal EPA-
One day, a co-worker asked me to draft tweets that the EPA could post on holidays, ranging from Valentine’s Day to Halloween...The idea behind these tweets is to remind people that an environmentally friendly lifestyle is easy to adopt and can be practiced year-round, not just on Earth Day. But my co-worker also transmitted this instruction: Don’t mention climate change or going “green,” but instead write about “conserving energy” or “saving money.” It wasn’t clear whether this instruction had come from above or whether my group merely anticipated opposition to those concepts....

Combing through the old tweets, I noticed that some had links to the EPA’s information on climate change, but the links were now dead. Link

Free speech, anyone?

Would be very SMART if Mexico would stop the Caravans long before they get to our Southern Border, or if originating countries would not let them form (it is a way they get certain people out of their country and dump in U.S. No longer). Dems created this problem. No crossings!

General Anthony Tata: “President Trump is a man of his word & he said he was going to be tough on the Border, and he is tough on the Border. He has rightfully strengthened the Border in the face of an unprecedented threat. It’s the right move by President Trump.” Thanks General!

Europe has to pay their fair share for Military Protection. The European Union, for many years, has taken advantage of us on Trade, and then they don’t live up to their Military commitment through NATO. Things must change fast!

Just saw Rick Santorum on CNN speaking about global warming. I was hoping for better from Santorum. I have found him in the past to be not quite as much of a partisan hack as, say, Cortes. To paraphrase Santorum: global warming is happening but how much can we say is caused by man? The scientists who are raising alarms are doing so seeking government grants and besides they rang the alarm bell 25 years ago and we're all still fine.

When Santorum was a candidate, he was rather more extreme than he is now. Perhaps he has softened, or perhaps politics has become more extreme so that he seems more decent than he used to.

But I'm not surprised by what you report. That seems in line with Santorum's basic philosophy. I don't have much respect for him.

I must admit that I like ex-RNC chair (?) Michael Steele rather more than I recall. I think he was chased from the chairmanship for some sort of scandal, but I can't recall. In any case, I totally respect his viewpoint lately, even though he's rather a bit more conservative than me. Seems a decent conservative, one regretting the turn his party has taken.

Clinton Foundation donations drop 42% - which shows that they illegally played the power game. They monetized their political influence through the Foundation. “During her tenure the State Department was put in the service of the Clinton Foundation.” Andrew McCarthy

He forgot to add

Donald J. Trump Foundation contributions dropped 100% when it was shut down because he used other people's money to buy himself gifts, pay his business bills, bribe Pam Bondi, and make illegal campaign contributions.

Russia attacks Ukrainian Naval Vessels. Injured crew members.
EU and NATO issue a strong rebuke, not a peep from Trump.

How embarrassing were those thanksgiving calls to the military? Crazy uncle rants absurdly disconnected from the realities of the mission of the men in active duty. All about the narcissist in chief and his problems. What a bum.

And then the whole Khashoggi murder debacle where he lets the Saudis off the hook in the most transparently weak way for money.

But yeah some leftists said some silly stuff in the thread. Run along now.

NPR (Weekend Edition Sunday, but I haven't a link yet) had an interview with someone sympathetic to Trump's handling of the Khashoggi murder. Totally did not agree with him, but he pressed the point that national interests trump what he called "virtue signalling" (and what I would call principles).

Silly things? That is a bizarre definition of the word “silly.”

Thanks, tho, for telling me to run along, and I want to apologize in advance for not doing so. How silly of me, huh?

Thanks, also, for posting.

Can't help but notice that you've ignored his substantial points.

Let me state this explicitly: I'm fundamentally opposed to violence against Trump, his administration, or members of Congress. I also think it is distasteful to interrupt public outings in order to protest.

Now, what do you think of Trump's handling of the Khashoggi torture and murder? So long as we're well renumerated, all's good?

Do answer, since, after all, you value expression of one's opinions.

Trump wants tax cuts and more spending plus deficit reduction.

President Trump is demanding top advisers craft a plan to reduce the country’s ballooning budget deficits, but the president has flummoxed his own aides by repeatedly seeking new spending while ruling out measures needed to address the country’s unbalanced budget.

Trump’s deficit-reduction directive came last month, after the White House reported a large increase in the deficit for the previous 12 months. The announcement unnerved Republicans and investors, helping fuel a big sell-off in the stock market. Two days after the deficit report, Trump floated a surprise demand to his Cabinet secretaries, asking them to identify steep cuts in their agencies.

Also,
Chief of Staff John F. Kelly has told others about watching television with Trump and asking the president how much the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff earns. Trump guessed $5 million, according to people who were told the story by Kelly, startling the chief of staff. Kelly responded that he made less than $200,000. The president suggested he get a large raise and noted the number of stars on his uniform.

Are you suggesting that staying out of a war is a BAD THING?

I am going to go on record and say that the murder of Osama bin Laden’s good friend and Turkish Tyrant apologist is not sufficuent grounds to go to war.
....

You've packed too many right-wing slurs into one sentence to take them apart. Your characterization of a U.S. resident writing for a leading U.S. paper is just false.

And no one is suggesting going to war against Saudi Arabia. But freezing military aid and imposing some sanctions -- as has been suggested by some Republicans -- would get their attention. They need the U.S. far more than we need them.

I get that Obama would have drone murdered someone in retaliation.

Not a war, but cut ties that involve us government concessions specific to that nation (like authorizing arms sales).

Arms for allies generally.

Checks into thread, “kill them.” war. Civil war, etc...

Leftists have totally lost their minds.

Good

The ones who have lost their minds on the left are the extremists, very distant from the center of the party, but in the other, they are right next to the center of the party, flirted with, and courted by the center of party.

Lolz.

You have literally no clue what a straw man is and that amuses THE BIG DOG.

So many crocodile tears for a member of the Muslim brotherhood, jihadist, friend of Osama bin Laden, and best pal of the autocractic ruler of Turkey.

Let’s go to war!
