Well, given the fact that he's used his power to get Drunky McRapefaced appointed to the supreme court, passed various laws that have contributed to declines in those with health insurance, and helped pass a law that will see a huge increase in the debt along with an increase in taxes for most Americans, I think the characterization of 'evil' fits.

Ha ha! Ha ha. It's totally hilarious nicknames like that that will win the 2020 presidential election for the Democrats!

Keep 'em coming. It's the only way to be taken seriously.

He also discouraged nominating kavanaugh. And he pushed it through anyways. He is a rather unmoored person.

Well THIS certainly didn't upset Trump's base and prevent him from winning in 2016, now did it?

First of all, I am not a democratic candidate. I'm not even American. I have no political power nor influence. So my use of nick names is irrelevant in the grand schema of things.

And I find it significant... I raised several points in my post: declines in health insurance access, debt increases, etc. Yet the only thing you seem interested in commenting on is "Oh, he used an insulting nick name for an individual who was likely an attempted rapist and an admitted drunk, but who still got Republican support".

And given the fact that Trump regularly belittles people by giving them nick names, I seriously doubt anyone is going to care about calling Kavanaugh 'Drunky McRapeface' (well, except for the extreme hypocrites).

Re: McConnell and his 'cunning' and whether he is evil
Well, given the fact that he's used his power to get Drunky McRapefaced appointed to the supreme court...
He also discouraged nominating kavanaugh.
Yes, he did. But that seemed to be more due to his background working for the Bush administration than his drunken rapey ways.
And he pushed it through anyways. He is a rather unmoored person.
And in doing so, he indicated to a rather large segment of the population that they are to be considered second class citizens.

The thing is, McConnell could have acted differently. He could have had the senate reject Kavanaugh. (It would have perhaps made voters think "The senate isn't just rubber-stamping whatever Trump wants.") But he didn't. And his actions may have helped boost the Democrats. (Which didn't win them the senate but did help them in the house, which curtails Republican ability to implement their agenda.)

Turns out Ivanka's personal email account, was not just any old gmail or yahoo account but it was in fact hosted on a private server, in Trump Tower.

Would love to see a linky. Not disbelieving, just want more details.
Looks like it's from the Washington Post behind a paywall. That's what I could glean after Googling and after the story at the Post's website greyed out and asked me to sign up.

I wonder if that makes the situation better or worse.

If its a private email server, its probably a lot easier for the server to not be maintained properly. (If you don't have full time tech people on staff they may not install patches to the server as often as they need to.)

On the other hand, with a private server it is easier to vet the people who have access to it. (Less need to worry about a nosey employee digging around possibly classified emails.) And there have been some rather significant security breaches around Yahoo and google mail.

Except that if a government employee whose computer or phone is being monitored sends an e-mail to the person using a private server, that server can be identified and attacked. I wonder if there's a highly placed government employee who insists on using their personal phone despite being warned that it is almost certainly being monitored by foreign powers.

A New York judge on Friday denied a request from President Donald Trump and his family members to dismiss a lawsuit against them and the Trump Foundation alleging that the charitable foundation violated state and federal laws for “more than a decade.”

In her ruling, Justice Saliann Scarpulla of the New York state Supreme Court shot down an argument from the Trump family’s attorneys that the case should be dismissed because the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution suggests “a sitting president may not be sued.”

Scarpulla also rejected Trump’s argument that the state court lacked jurisdiction over the president in this case. While the Constitution prohibits state courts from exercising “direct control” in a way that interferes with federal officers’ duties, Scaruplla wrote: “Here, the allegations raised in the Petition do not involve any action taken by Mr. Trump as president and any potential remedy would not affect Mr. Trump’s official federal duties.”

Scarpulla noted that the defendants “have failed to cite a single case in which any court has dismissed a civil action against a sitting president on Supremacy Clause grounds, where, as here, the action is based on the president’s unofficial acts.”

“I find that I have jurisdiction over Mr. Trump and deny Respondents’ motion to dismiss the petition against him on jurisdictional grounds,” she wrote.

Linky.

Such a server can act as an entirely private communications channel to anywhere in the world without any oversight. That's fine if you want to conduct business negotiations, I guess, but it could also be a completely open and unsecured back-channel for incoming access to outside agencies. E.g. Is this the same email server that Donny uses to email his pals in Moscow and Riyadh and to receive his marching orders? Or the gateway to Wikileaks? Or Narnia? Who knows! It's entirely private, and as noted above, completely unknown as to patching, security, and other access controls.

My betting is Ivanka never had any clue where the server was physically located nor its security status. She just used the email service.

But the issue REALLY is that it had government business on it AT ALL, inconsequential or otherwise. So if it was "Lock her up!" for Hillary, then it should be exactly the same for everyone who used this server for government business. And that will probably include the whole Trump tribe, not just Ivanka.

What Trump is grateful for this Thanksgiving:

This just emphasized, once again, the extent of Trump's narcissism. He's thanking himself.
I had to laugh when I read the bit about foreign leaders saying they can't believe the difference in strength. Does anyone believe any foreign leader has ever said anything even remotely like that to Trump? I do believe they've said they can't believe the difference in the US now and two years ago...but it wasn't meant as a compliment. God knows I can't believe it, either.

I can easily imagine MBS or Putin blowing that sort of smoke up his ass in the act of playing him.

True. I was thinking more of respectable foreign leaders, not authoritarian non-democratic rulers. MbS, Putin, and Kim may well have fed his ego by telling him how wonderful he is. They know how to play to his ever hungry ego.

I am not feigning sensitivity.

I am criticizing silly, juvenile behavior. That our president is similarly juvenile (though not quite "Drunky McRapefaced" silly) doesn't mean that his opponents look decent when they adopt similar stupidity.

The "pearl-clutching" schtick is getting almost as old as the "virtue-signalling" ******** of yore. You should learn to respond to the criticism without accusing the person of posing. See what it's like.

The trumpkin defense seem to be to backpedal and say that private servers and phones are suddenly a-OK, just so long as you actual secrets aren't leaked to "the enemy".

Well THIS certainly didn't upset Trump's base and prevent him from winning in 2016, now did it?

No. So?

Using stupid nicknames makes one look stupid. As it turns out, Trump's base digs stupid. I don't think his opponents should aim for stupid. That market has been cornered.

I didn't have much to say about your other comments. I don't regard McConnell as evil, but he's a dirty son of a bitch, interested only in partisan advantage and with no interest at all in fairness, decency, etc.

I had a comment about the pathetic nickname you used. Had you said that Kavanaugh was a heavy drinker, at least in his youth, and an accused attempted rapist (where the accusation seems fairly plausible), I'd have no problem. I just don't thing "Drunky McRapeface" quite conveys that.
