Because he and his friends don't make a lot of money off of Uranium. Oil and coal however...

He will be asking for the navy to return to coal-fired boilers next.

Trump fans on this forum: this is the genius you voted for.

I’m not feeling the funny.

“This is the ignorant, grifting, Nazi-coddling, slutty, treasonous, degenerate, preening half-wit you voted for to help Putin and his fellow kleptocrats destroy Western democracy in general and America in particular.”

That's a bit of a stretch. And they never referred to oil fired (diesel) as steam ships although the term under steam or steaming away has lived on beyond the use of actual 'steam' powered ships. I bet there hasn't actually been a Navy steam ship commissioned since before WWII.
Most oil-fired ships were not diesel. They used boilers, generally 1200 lbs for cruisers, destroyers and frigates in more modern times.

The last conventional steam carrier was the Kennedy, retired several years ago. The 1200 lb cruisers, destroyers and frigates were all decommissioned in the 90s. None of the ships of the line were diesels.

ETA: I was Boilers Officer on a 1200 lb cruiser that was commissioned in the 1960s.4 Babcock-Wilcox D-type boilers, F-76 oil fuel.

Interesting. Did steam actually propel the propellers? Or did it power turbines that generated electric motors that powered propellers?

Steam drove turbines that directly drove the shafts the propellers were mounted on. There were also steam driven turbogenerators for ship's service electricity. Most ships also had emergency diesel or gas turbine generators for electricity.

ETA: the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-9, an amphibious control ship) is still conventional steam, 600 lb.

I guess I really was wrong. Thanks for setting me straight. I always thought steam was a bygone era. Although I did know until fairly recently that it was used to power the catapults on aircraft carriers.

Now they are going digital according to Trump. They will have completely bypassed electromagnetic technology.

I have no idea what Trump is talking about. I don't think he does either. It wasn't that long ago when the carriers began using what I believe are electromagnets. I think I went on a ride at 6 flags that uses electromagnets to propel the riders at tremendous speeds.

I think they should rename Dunning-Kruger to "Trump's Disorder"

I can only laugh at him when I manage to separate myself from reality. I literally can't watch/listen to him talk for more than 30 seconds without becoming angry because everything he says is at best a rambling distortion and what's left are lies. If he was put in a fictional work, it would only be acceptable as farce.
I can't stand to hear him either. I'll watch a dorky gif of him flubbing the umbrella closing. Beyond that, I just turn the channel or mute the radio.

Lol.

I can imagine a researcher talking to President Trump.
“Mr. President, how would you rate yourself in the following areas”
“negotiations?”
— “top 1%”
“being a good president?”
— “top 1%”
“intelligence?”
— “top 1%”
“love making?”
— “top 1%”
“knowledge of US history?”
— “top 1%”
“self-awareness?”
— “top 1%”

Is there anything in which he does not rate himself as excellent?

He would never rate himself that low. He's far more than merely excellent.

He knows more about wars than the generals.
He knows more about renewables than any human being on earth.
He knows more about taxes than anybody in the history of the world.
Nobody understand how the US government works better than him.
He is the least racist person you will ever meet.
He knows more about trade than anybody.
Only he can fix it.

I could go on at great length.

Thanksgiving Day at Mar a Lago.

Later, Mr Trump asked a US Coast Guard commander about trade, which he noted was "a very big subject" for him personally.

"We've been taken advantage of for many, many years by bad trade deals," Mr Trump told the commander, who sheepishly replied that, "We don't see any issues in terms of trade right now".

Typical Coast Guard Commander. Knows nothing about trade.

What Trump is grateful for this Thanksgiving:
"This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office that you wouldn’t believe it,” Trump continued. “I mean, you see it, but so much stronger that people can’t even believe it. When I see foreign leaders they say, ‘We cannot believe the difference in strength between the United States now and the United States two years ago.’ Made a lot of progress."

This just emphasized, once again, the extent of Trump's narcissism. He's thanking himself.
I had to laugh when I read the bit about foreign leaders saying they can't believe the difference in strength. Does anyone believe any foreign leader has ever said anything even remotely like that to Trump? I do believe they've said they can't believe the difference in the US now and two years ago...but it wasn't meant as a compliment. God knows I can't believe it, either.
