Cont: The Trump Presidency X: 10-10 'til we do it again

Agreed. The WH claimed the helicopter was unable to fly due to the light rain and overcast skies. The WH also claimed that there was no time to arrange a motorcade. Hogwash.
That's ******* hilarious. Those helicopters are the very definition of "all weather." They have to be since their most important mission isn't to move the President and his family around faster than a motorcade; it's to get POTUS somewhere safe if there's an emergency.

Trump is now threatening to withhold disaster funding from California for the devastating fires there because of "Gross Mismanagment" ie; it's a Democratic State.
As a Californian I have to say it; F___ you, Trump.

As a still card carrying Californian who voted Democrat in CA, I second this.

Trump Tweets

"Happy 243rd Birthday to our GREAT U.S. Marine Corps"

He was probably thinking of the USMCA (his acronym for NAFTA). It is only a few weeks old. (And there's no way he could have spelled "Corps" correctly by himself.)

Be fair. Trump would melt if he got wet.

Maybe not completely. But certainly his orange cotton-candy hair.

Just last month, Trump and wife flew down to Florida in the helicopter in the rain.

What a bunch of liars Trump and his WH are.

Flying in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) does come with increased risk that has to be weighed up. Having a rated pilot and capeable aircraft makes flying in such conditions possible but not necessarily desirable.

The flying weather is a red herring anyway.

White House chief of staff John Kelly and Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made the roughly 50-mile long trip to the cemetery in a small motorcade of vehicles. The drive took about 90 minutes each way. Separately, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel traveled a similar distance by car to a commemorative event in northern France.

True...but there was only light rain. It is more than possible for the POTUS' copter, piloted by an excellent pilot, to fly the 50 miles to the cemetery. As I said, all the others managed to get there, including Chief of Staff Kelly and Gen. Dunsford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in their own motorcade. Why didn't Trump ride with them? Nah, there's more to this than a light rain.

If you are going to take that line, you wil need to be working with what had been the forecast flying weather conditions, including visibility, along the route and an assessment from a pilot who understands the capabilities of the aircraft in question. Saying it was “light rain” is mere hand waving while in possession of insufficient facts. Even the best pilots can make mistakes and flying IMC entails increased workload and risk.

As we both seem to agree, the flying conditions are a red herring as other world leaders and even American dignitaries made it.

This isn't the first time the WH has cited 'bad weather' for not taking Marine 1. Last July, Trump was supposed to take the helicopter from the WH to Andrews AFB, about 11 miles as the crow flies.

On this day, however, Trump’s aides were at pains to keep him away from reporters. And so, as NBC News’s Hallie Hackson reports, the White House made a “bad weather” call and announced that the president would have to take a car to Joint Base Andrews. The weather, of course, was perfectly clear. (Picture of bue skies)

When the pool reporter inquired as to why the president’s plans had changed, given the idyllic weather, they were told, “there is fog.”

According to NBC Washington’s Storm Team 4, D.C. is experiencing a “break” of dry weather after several days of storms, and “Thursday will be mostly dry, with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 80s.”

Red herring, indeed!

In such a rich target environment for criticism of this ignorant, narcissistic and wilfully divisive president there is no need to be sloppy and provide talking points to apologists.

Other leaders got there and so should he have.

A red herring is supposed to be something real but misleading. No, these are just good old-fashioned lies, which are virtually all that comes out of this administration.

Red herrings are not necessarily real, they just need to be a diversion. But I agree; these are good old-fashioned lies. The WPO must have had to hire more staff just to keep up with all the lies pouring out of Trump and his administration.

Here is a speech from 2017 that slaps Trump on this day square in the face.

*Trudeau standing in the rain with an umbrella*
Today we honour those who fought with such grit and valour on the beaches of France.
*removes umbrella*
As we sit here in the rain... thinking how uncomfortable we must be as our suits get wet, our hair gets wet, our shoes get wet, I think it’s all the more fitting we remember on that day in Diep, the rain wasn’t rain it was bullets. As we stand here 75 years later with this duty and this act of remembrance it is all too fitting.

The wet hair part sounds so prophetic but the real part is that the excuses Sanders makes today on his behalf about the weather are cast into the mud by the sacrifices made by the soldiers he failed to commemorate alongside leaders of allied nations.

Perhaps he knows he does not really belong there as a man who has cast aside the values that America once fought alongside European nations to protect. He is ignorant of the real nature of America’s European alliances. He has no heartfelt words to say on this occasion. His best would be to clumsily read off the best efforts of one of his administration people. What a bum he is.

I guess the weather between the hotels was too rough for him to make the group dinner, too.

I think y'all are being unfair. Those soldiers in WWI didn't have to face Pool Reporters :jaw-dropp

Donnie's in total meltdown since last Tuesday, obviously. His ideal medium is rallies. No one questions anything. (They're paid not to, after all.) Even Twitter is failing him. The general comments rip him apart and then the remainder of the interwebs has at 'im with hours, if not days, before the loyal slimeballs on Fox are on air.)

If you want to make him even crazier (he's the one who started this the night after the election claiming he could be conciliatory if he wanted to be but that it was too much fun making the Dems crazy), every "fake news" (read: MSM) publication should do an analysis of the results of the 6th, headlined "How Trump Lost the GOP the House". If Time would give him that as a cover, it'd have him breaking things in the Lincoln Bedroom.

My great grandfather's bones are strewn somewhere beneath the sacred fields of Vimy Ridge. He was among the first groups of Canadian men to volunteer and put their lives on the line for freedom from tyranny.

My great grandmother was left to raise 6 children on her own. And like every other widow of that time, she managed to keep the family afloat... and no matter how hard she struggled and how poor they were, she stood strong and held her head high.

******* that useless bag of orange flesh and the ivory tower he and his golden helicopter sits in.

This, I reckon. Has he ever appeared in the rain with no umbrella? Could this explain the fiasco where he dumped the umbrella outside the plane? Perhaps the time it would have taken to close the umbrella might have exposed his 'hair' to rain.

If he has to choose between protecting his wife or his ugly hair from the rain, he chooses his hair. This is seen in several instances by a simple google image search.
