Trump continues to claim that "billions of dollars will be pouring in to the Treasury" from China because of the tariffs. He fails to grasp that tariffs are taxes on American importers, retailers and consumers. They might have a legitimate purpose, maybe, but the foreign producer doesn't pay them.

Yeah but those consumers are probably poor or middle class people (not the wealthy) so they don't really count as Americans.

The U.S. is fundamentally broken.

A significant minority of the country has looked at Trump and the rest of the republicans (the party where the president regularly spouts racist rhetoric, and has children locked in cages) and said "Yes i want that". Despite Trump and the republicans not receiving a majority of votes in an election, and winning through a combination of voter supression, gerrymandering and Russian interference, they were willing to govern as if they actually had a popular mandate, cramming through laws and appointments (which often are not supported by the people) while shutting out the Democrats through dirty tricks.

Despite the fact that the republicans lost the house, they still have the senate and the presidency, and I believe they will continue to act in a repugnant manner. And, they will continue their actions to harm U.S. democratic institutions.

If you want 'healing' its not going to come from the republican side, the people who have worked the hardest to divide the country in the first place.

"....We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well! A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date."
 
So did Session resign, get fired or... basically get told "Resign or you're fired?"
 
I have to believe that Mueller and Rosenstein have already done something behind the scenes that would prevent the complete results of the Russia investigation from the possibility of completely disappearing and never being seen by a Democrat in Congress or the public. Surely they knew that Sessions could be gone as of today, which would then mean that Rosenstein would not be safeguarding the investigation.

Someone please tell me I'm correct.

Why can't he kill the probe and destroy the results of the probe before the Dems actually take control in January?

ETA: destroy whatever results of the probe have not already been released (indictments, etc.)

It amounts to "Resign, Or I Will Fire You. It will look better for you if you resign".

Happens all the time in business...."

Sessions letter of resignation said he was resigning at the request of the President. That means he was fired.
