Cohen has recently made allegations of racism against Trump:

From: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/11/michael-cohen-trump-racist-language
Cohen recalled a discussion at Trump Tower, following the then-candidate’s return from a campaign rally during the 2016 election cycle. Cohen had watched the rally on TV and noticed that the crowd was largely Caucasian. He offered this observation to his boss. “I told Trump that the rally looked vanilla on television. Trump responded, ‘That’s because black people are too stupid to vote for me.’”
...
Cohen also recounted a conversation he had with Trump in the late 2000s, while they were traveling to Chicago for a Trump International Hotel board meeting. “We were going from the airport to the hotel, and we drove through what looked like a rougher neighborhood. Trump made a comment to me, saying that only the blacks could live like this.”

For better or worse, Cohen probably doesn't have a lot of credibility in general (and he isn't offering any recordings of the conversation.) There are 2 possibilities I can see:
- Cohen has an axe to grind against Trump, so he is lying to make him look bad
- Cohen is trying to atone for what he sees as mistakes from the past (including supporting Trump when his racism was evident)

One of Trump's legal cases (involving emoluments) just isn't going away:

From: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/nov/2/trump-loses-another-round-emoluments-court-battle/
President Trump suffered another setback Friday in his bid to avoid a constitutional rebuke when a federal judge refused to halt a case challenging his ownership of the Trump International hotel in D.C. Judge Peter J. Messitte rejected the president’s arguments that the Emolument Clauses lawsuit would be a distraction... The president had asked the judge to put the case on ice while he appealed those rulings, staying legal discovery that could result in the president having to answer a number of tricky questions about his business empire. But the judge, in his ruling Friday, rejected that.

Man... even if Trump gets impeached immediately in 2019, writing "a book" about the Trump presidency will be quite a challenge for future historians, won't it. I'd guess that it'll exceed the number devoted to any other president by about an order of magnitude.

Trump has further reinforced for me the notion that a head of state need not necessarily be much experienced in governance or a governmental environment. Far more important in a figurehead than a resume are such human characteristics as empathy, curiosity, humility, decency, etc. A good person with charisma inspires and empowers others. The *wisely chosen* staff and other experts in the Administration advise and do the grunt work.

To test this, imagine the choice between Oprah and, say, Pence.

You forgot option 3:

-Cohen has an axe to grind against Trump and is telling the truth to make him look bad... even if Cohen agrees with him.

Oooh. Tougher, that one.

He doesn't need much credibility - I've been telling y'all that Toupee Fiasco is racist against black people, it's been obvious since 2011 when he was pushing birtherism.

(And really, it was obvious even back in the 80s, but that's another issue)

And actually, we were too smart to vote for him. He's clearly a white supremacist, a conman, a narcissist, a pathological liar, petty, vindictive, and unwilling to learn anything. Voting for Hillary was just a matter of our best interest.

Oh, I agree... there is more than enough evidence to conclude that yes, indeed Trump is a YUGE racist.

But, it would be nice if all the allegations could be supported by stronger proof, to avoid any Trump supporters from claiming "This particular source is not reputable, so you must automatically discount everything".

What does it matter? They're going to do that anyway. They'll invent a reason if need be.

Who will do the arresting?

The Army can't arrest them if they are on US soil and they certainly can't be arrested by anyone from the US while they are still in Mexico.

The Caravan is nothing a couple of dozen trained Border Patrolmen could not handle.

Officials estimate the number of people in the two caravans at approximately 6,500 total:
"Over 270 individuals along the caravan route have criminal histories, including known gang membership. Those include a number of violent criminals – examples include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, sexual assault on a child, and assault on a female. Mexican officials have publicly stated that criminal groups have infiltrated the caravan.

"We know, for a fact, that some members of the caravan threatened Mexican Migration Institute personnel and we have images showing many of them preparing Molotov cocktails.

"Reports on the ground from our foreign partners suggest that approximately 50 percent are single adults. However, the Guatemalan Intel Minister said that the caravan is employing tactics to push women and children to the front to act as human shields as the caravan pushes against its military forces."

Can the army detain them on US soil until law enforcement officials arrive?

A serious question here. I don't know what the limits on military are.

The Posse Comitatus Act is.... oddly worded to say the least and is one of those cornerstone laws that for some reason we really, really have to read between the lines of a lot.

Technically it's not about "enforcing laws" but it prohibits the military from enforcing the broader concept of "domestic policy" and actually only applies to the Army and Airforce, the assumption being that the Navy would be too busy doing butt stuff on the ocean and the Marines would be too busy eating crayons. Nor does it apply to National Guards or other state militias and applies to the Coast Guard pretty much only when the Coast Guard feels like it which is never.

The Posse Comitatus Act can be suspended by an act of Congress.

Now if you, say break onto a military base and run naked through the PX the MPs of the base are well within their right to arrest you. Military Police enforcing a purely military law in a purely military jurisdiction is of course a thing that can happen.

Add to this the fact that as of last time I checked the United States broadened the "Boarder Zones" where the Constitution is a vague suggestion to roughly 37 parsecs away from the boarder

Yeah but at the very least I'd like to see them work harder to come up with their excuses.

After watching her speech today, I'm hoping now that Oprah does run in 2020. I do believe she'd obliterate Trump, probably by a wider margin than any of the current likely candidates, and the bonus is I don't think his ego could take it: A black woman with higher TV ratings would be a trifecta.

I think you're missing the motivations for her involvement in backing Abrams.

Officials also estimate that very few will make it as far as the border. Trump will nonetheless keep cranking up his "estimate" because he thinks you're uninformed and easily frightened. Is that true?

Just because someone thinks, says, and does racist things doesn’t mean they’re a racist.

That would be their problem; ours is that they really need to stop doing that. But how are you defining "racist things?"
