There's a tradition of doing special editions of the 50p for EU related things - one when we joined and one when the UK held the presidency.
The £2 coin (and even the £1 coin) didn't exist when the first special EU 50p was minted - we had banknotes for pounds back then. Shows how the value of the pound has consistently declined during our long EU membership period.

You do realise that other posters were posting snide remarks about the value of the pound decreasing after Brexit? I was merely pointing out how it has consistently declined DURING our period of membership.
Of course, most currencies lose value most of the time - I think it would be better if they didn't, but that's perhaps a subject for a separate thread.

I think we have all been taken in by a parody account to be honest.
I do it to compensate for the reflex criticism of Brexit by most other posters in the thread.
In the case of my 'declining value of the pound' comment, you acknowledge yourself that it was wholly true. It's telling that you see it as criticism - shows bias on your part.
In contrast the '£2 will only be worth 50p' style comments are only predictions and almost certainly wrong. But no doubt you think they're just fair comment and not criticisms at all. Again, this shows your bias.
