Ed George Soros and others targetted by Terrorist

As actual examples of policies that, in practice, violate the basics, we have the Stand Your Ground law in FL, which in the Trayvon Martin case, was basically used to lynch a completely innocent black man and let a white man go

If you are going to rail against a system, at least get your facts right. The Zuckerman trial was never a Stand Your Ground case, the Defense when directly to trial and used a pure self defense case.

Tolerance is not an absolute. It can't be or it causes a paradox. This is not new information to anyone.

Good points.

Argument by slogan let people make straw men and even advocates get confused on every issue. It has massive advantages in that it works on a broad level, but even that is a double edged sword.

'Tolerance' is another idea that we treat like a binary in some places because it's useful shorthand, but is actually a spectrum the more we drill down.

My favorite article to refer to in discussions like this:

Tolerance is not a moral precept

Excerpt:
Tolerance is not a moral absolute; it is a peace treaty. Tolerance is a social norm because it allows different people to live side-by-side without being at each other’s throats. It means that we accept that people may be different from us, in their customs, in their behavior, in their dress, in their sex lives, and that if this doesn’t directly affect our lives, it is none of our business. But the model of a peace treaty differs from the model of a moral precept in one simple way: the protection of a peace treaty only extends to those willing to abide by its terms. It is an agreement to live in peace, not an agreement to be peaceful no matter the conduct of others. A peace treaty is not a suicide pact.

Emphasis in original.

This is, to me, the best possible way of looking at tolerance. Tolerance is a peace treaty, not a suicide pact. It only applies to those willing to honor the treaty; those who break the treaty no longer get to claim its benefits.

There's a lot more to the article, and it's well worth reading all of it. I'll just include the conclusion below, because it so effectively deconstructs the idea of tolerance as an inviolable moral principle in a very short paragraph.

What this teaches us is that tolerance, viewed as a moral absolute, amounts to renouncing the right to self-protection; but viewed as a peace treaty, it can be the basis of a stable society. Its protections extend only to those who would uphold it in turn. To withdraw those protections from those who would destroy it does not violate its moral principles; it is fundamental to them, because without this enforcement, the treaty would collapse. It is appropriate, even ethical, to answer force with proportional force, when that force is required to restore a just peace. We seek peace because on the whole it is far better than war; but as history has taught us, not every peace is better than the war it prevents.

I'm tempted to post my Facebook information so you can see the stupidity of people trying to rationalize Trump's behavior and, "If we're gonna call him the MAGA-Bomber, I'm gonna call they guy who shot up the softball game the Bernie Sanders Shooter."

Just a sample:

when confronted with the fact that he'd been cheated out of the primaries, unlike a normal person, Bernie didnt even standup for himself. Bernie is lousy and a punk sissy socialist on his best day.

The fact that Bernie is a feckless chump actually led one of his die hard fanboys to stand up for him and fire on innocent people at a GOP baseball game.

You dont measure a man by his actions alone. There is a lot to measured by his inaction as well.

And

Speech is still free on FB . More elite people like yourself are just going to have to be more creative with your attempts to shame the drunk stinky walmart shopping deplorable hillbillies, like myself, into silence for daring to not group think with you all.

Yes. Bernie is to blame for the the shooting on the baseball game.

Antifa/Democrats doing some last minute campaigning before the midterms.

Whoever did this ought to be prosecuted and repudiated.

What else can one say? Is it as bad as what happened with the pipe bombs? No. Is it clearly the result of Democratic vitriol? Well, let's wait and see until someone is caught, shall we?

Is it plausible that Democrats want such attacks to happen? Certainly not, just as Republicans don't want such attacks as the pipe bombs right before the midterms. It isn't in their interests.

On the other hand, it's pretty clear that the guy sending out pipe bombs was a fond supporter of Trump, undeniably influenced by our dear Commander in Chief. And, while Trump has called for violence in the form of fisticuffs rather than bombs, his disparagement of his enemies, particularly the press, might well have encouraged more serious forms of violence.

The Democrats, for all their faults, have never once gone so far. Claiming that part of your opposition is deplorable isn't nearly so bad as claiming that your opponent party has turned into an "angry mob" and that "have become too extreme and too dangerous to govern."

Anyway, continue wringing your hands, whereas sensible folk reckognize which responsible party members have decided to jettison civility. And don't talk to me about Holder (whose statements I regret), because he is reacting to, not causing, the issue. Slanderous nicknames are a damned shame, dog whistles a damned shame worse, and the result of literal political terrorism is something that any Republican should puzzle over, not because they are directly responsible, but because they've allowed the rhetoric to go so over the top that such actions seem sensible to the addled few, and that's a few too many.

Why is no one investigating the guy seen on the grassy knoll?

With the current state of the GOP in Florida it's just as likely to be in-fighting among the right wing crazies. Is that the same GOP HQ where the guy was trying to beat down a Dem's door with his buddies from the Proud Boys?

Snopes: Did Donald Trump Encourage Violence at His Rallies?

Snopes said:
CLAIM
A viral cartoon accurately reproduces statements made by Donald Trump on the presidential campaign trail.

ORIGIN
Donald Trump faced criticism during his successful 2016 presidential campaign based on the aggressive atmospheres of many of his rallies, where tension and intimidation repeatedly spilled over into violence.

Some of that violence has resulted in lawsuits. In one ongoing suit, Kentucky protesters who attempted to disrupt a rally in March 2016 are suing the president in federal court for incitement to riot after he urged “Get ’em out of here” from the stage, upon which members of the crowd attacked and forcibly removed the protesters.

As part of these criticisms, a cartoon emerged in June 2017 which appeared to accuse White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders of misinforming the public about Trump’s record on encouraging or condoning violence.

RATING: TRUE

Who knew Michael Moore was so amazing?

In outtakes from his movie "Fahrenheit 11/9" Moore found footage of Florida's mail bomb suspect Sayoc Michael's camera even pauses a little on Sayoc. Wow!

Whoa... there's the wannabe-bomber nutbag right there chanting with all the other Cult 45 nutbags.

So what does this tell us? It tells us any one of those other Cult 45 koolaid drinkers could be a future nutbag terrorist too. Fundamentalist kook followers potentially on the edge of going full retard? Anything's possible at this point.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when all those people standing close to Sayoc take a good long look at themselves when they see this clip in Moore's upcoming film.

Craziness: Bomb Suspect Cesar Sayoc And Stormy Daniels Worked at the Same Strip Club

In a really strange turn of events, it has been discovered that bombing suspect Cesar Sayoc worked at Ultra Gentleman's Club in West Palm Beach, FL, the same strip club that Stormy Daniels performed at back in April, WPTV reported.

Sayoc worked as a DJ at the club.

Of all the gin joints....

Sayoc was a regular there. Daniels appeared there one night in April of this year. That's some fine reportage there.

Stormy Daniels performed at the same strip club back in April, which just so happened to coincide with President Donald Trump's visit. Interestingly enough, this strip club sits across the street from Trump's golf course.

Is all of this mere coincidence or a coordinated attack against President Trump?

Talk about your fake news! This is pathetic. You know who else frequently goes to West Palm Beach? Jared Kushner. Ivanka Trump. Eric Trump. DJT Jr., everyone who wants to suck up to the president. Maybe Town Hall could dig into those links (a.k.a. "connect the dots") for us in the best conspiratorial style.

Seems unlikely...
