I thought one news report Friday said that the bombs resembled designs found on the web. Anybody hear any more about that? If that's true, then the intent is clear (and the possible incompetence was someone else's).

I thought the early reports (prior to the arrest) were specific about them not being the common "Anarchist Cookbook" designs you can find on the web.

You don't have to do everything by the book. If you can have different style guides for writing, surely you can have more than one book of bomb designs.

Disclaimer: I don't know. Every explosive I've ever used or seen had green water proof fuse. And all of that was way back when buying such didn't get you on the FBI watch list.

Not at all clear to me. I reckon we'll have to wait and see.

There are plenty of crimes more plausible that one would be charged with in that circumstance. Have you any evidence at all that anyone who has brought a loaded gun to a rally has been charged with an assassination attempt? Or that the rules have recently changed?

I'll have to go find the original quote / context but I read it as specifically them noting that the design was uncommon enough to be meaningful.

If one wanted to reduce the threat of terrorism, would it be a good idea to put flawed bomb designs on the internet where they are likely to be found by moderately incompetent wanabe terrorists?

It is widely understood that the FBI is in fact planting faulty bomb and drug lab designs on Dark Web platforms as part of investigating users.

Andrew Gillum thrashes Trump for calling him a ‘thief’: ‘He’s howling because he’s weak’

“On Twitter there is a choice between having the courage to @ the person you are trash talking, or not,” Gillum wrote. “Donald Trump is howling because he’s weak. Florida, go vote today.”

Gillum has maintained a consistent lead over DeSantis across multiple polls of the Florida governor’s race, and the Real Clear Politics polling average currently shows him up by 3.2 percentage points.

Can you imagine that happening to any other president?

Hey, it was hard to imagine that a senior statesman of a political party would ask that a President of the US who is a member of his party not be invited to his funeral.
The POTUS as Pariah. Nice going, Donnie.

I was only mentioning to phiwum that his hypothetical that the bomber did not intend for the bombs to go off was taken off the table by the FBI.

I read that. But it wouldn't be the first or the last time law enforcement exaggerated their case. My guess is that they are not through.

I was basically adding that from a prison sentence perspective the guy is toast regardless. That he sent 14 separate bombs through the US mail adds count after count after count. Guess he wanted to make sure he'd never be free again.

Gillum plays the race card:
"The goal is obviously to use my candidacy as a way to reinforce, frankly, stereotypes about black men.”

The Dimms are a one trick pony.

So he also believes the righ-wing ******** about prisons being cushy hotels that the convicts love going to.

I imagine bomb making is sort of like baking; you don't want to improvise until you've mastered the basics.

Some more legal problems for Trump:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/29/trump-accused-in-lawsuit-of-conning-thousands-of-americans.html
A federal lawsuit filed Monday accused President Donald Trump, three of his children and their company of "deliberately" defrauding and conning "thousands" of working-class Americans by touting a marketing company as a great investment opportunity when in reality it was anything but that....The suit, which is seeking class-action status, says that from 2005 to 2015, the defendants "received millions of dollars in secret payments" from ACN, a multi-level marketing company. In exchange, Trump promoted the firm to potential investors without disclosing that the endorsement was paid for.

Not sure if it will go very far (Not because I don't think Trump is a con artist, but because there are a lot of dots to connect in order to win the case.) But, anything that causes Trump to be annoyed is a good thing.

Something like that. I can't help feeling sorry for the guy. I mean, just how deluded can you get to have absolutely nothing. Living in your van working, delivering pizzas and thinking Trump of all people is your President?

It's totally possible. Though, the fact that all 14 went wrong suggest that intentional failure is seriously possible, too.

Again, not laying odds one way or the other. I trust the FBI.

You do realise that an idiot making a bomb and making a mistake in the construction without understanding that mistake, can easily repeat it 14 times thinking that they were doing it correctly?

What we have to remember is that Trumps is no Hitler.
he's the sidekick who runs to buy him cigarettes.
