I think that you are doing a disservice to Holder.

I saw a video of some Trump supporters being told the news that the bomber had been arrested and described his van, etc. The excuses were the familiar ones we've seen here including one person saying they thought Sayoc had been hired by someone (implying they were Dems) to embarrass Trump.

It's only stupid if it doesn't work. Trump supporters are more vulnerable to the tactic because of the way they behave and dress at his rallies. It's not hard to imagine most people at a Trump rally doing something violent and unbalanced so associating them with violence and deranged behavior is a viable way to depict them as an alien other.
