According to the definition of Gallup or Pew that would be correct. But as I said earlier this comes down to definitions.

Then you misunderstood my post. Your definition would have to exceed 26%. I understand that it depends on definition. Do you have a credible one that does it?

Bob is technically right. In a country with a vast majority of people claiming to be religious it was nearly impossible for his statement to be false.

Yes, which makes it meaningless. So the question is what was meant?

A majority of anti-secular religious Americans are pro-Trump.
These might not be a majority, but they are more vocal than those who respect the separation of church and state.

I think it is much more than that. When asked the question 'are you a member of a church' 54 percent said they were. My guess is even that number is exaggerated. But admittedly, this is all general estimates.

Trump's campaign is now running on pure bigotry.
I predict, if the Dems do not take back the house, prepare for massive upheavels that will make those of the 1960's look mild in comparasion. The anger will go into the streets.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem avoidable at this point, regardless of who wins.

Hey, we already have our left-wing and right-wing troublemakers taking the streets.

Well, how about this for a definition:

A person who is "religious" is someone who either cares enough to attend church on a weekly basis" (only 36% of people do) or "Thinks religion is important in their lives" (53% do).

What is the overlap there?

Not sure. I suspect that most people who attend church weekly probably fall into the 'religion is important' group, although it doesn't mean there aren't a few people who go to church for other purposes (social interaction, family obligations, etc.)

The point was, if you use the definition of "religious=anything but atheist/agnostic" then yes, many/most people who dislike Trump would be considered religious simply because there aren't enough atheists/agnostics account for the disapproval of Trump. If you think that someone who is "religious" actually has to let their beliefs have some impact on their lives (e.g. by actually attending church) then its possible that religious people with a disapproval of Trump form a minority.

"Billions of dollars are, and will be, coming into United States coffers because of Tariffs. Great also for negotiations - if a country won’t give us a fair Trade Deal, we will institute Tariffs on them. Used or not, jobs and businesses will be created. U.S. respected again!"

Maybe someone should tell him about the Smoot Hawley Act and how that worked out.

“The result was disaster: country after country erected their own barriers in retaliation, global trade plummeted, and American exporters saw their suffering intensify. By 1933, US exports and imports had fallen by about 60 per cent.”

Trumps knows nothing about economics. He's good at hustling real estate and self promotion, but that is the extent of his economic knowledge. And he does not even have that great a reputation in the Hotel business. The man managed to lose money on a casino.

We don't even know how good he is at "hustling real estate", considering that there are suspicions that he is being kept afloat by: 1) Money laundered on behalf of Russians, and 2) sketchy sales techniques (including deceptive marketing of his real estate).
