This might a test for future corrupt actions.

At last count, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was the subject of 14 separate government investigations. (A new record!) But that number could soon be zero. That’s because Zinke just fired the Department of the Interior’s acting inspector general.

The news doesn’t stop there. Not only did Mary Kendall, the acting inspector general, not learn she was being replaced until The Hill broke the news this morning, but her replacement will likely be able to fill the role without needing to go through Senate confirmation.

Kendall—who’s served as acting inspector general at the DOI for ten years, and previously spent a decade as deputy inspector general—is being replaced by Suzanne Israel Tufts, a Republican lawyer who worked on the Trump campaign, and then was appointed to the role of assistant secretary of administration at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, Tufts will not need to undergo Senate confirmation to fill the new role, as she was already approved by Congress for her job at HUD.

Drain the swamp?

The slime and scum has been successfully drained from the swamp into the Whitehouse.

Trump Tweets

"Republicans must make the horrendous, weak and outdated immigration laws, and the Border, a part of the Midterms!"

"Hard to believe that with thousands of people from South of the Border, walking unimpeded toward our country in the form of large Caravans, that the Democrats won’t approve legislation that will allow laws for the protection of our country. Great Midterm issue for Republicans!"

Trump Tweets

"College educated women want safety, security and healthcare protections – very much along with financial and economic health for themselves and our Country. I supply all of this far better than any Democrat (for decades, actually). That’s why they will be voting for me!"

Wow. It's not a good sign when the sharks get to pick the life guard on duty.

That was dumb. I assume no one told him that the Executive branch can't fire anyone in the General Accounting Office of the professional staff of the oversight comittees. Firing the IG just tells the watchdogs you can't fire where to look.

Trump Tweets...

"We have today informed the countries of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador that if they allow their citizens, or others, to journey through their borders and up to the United States, with the intention of entering our country illegally, all payments made to them will STOP (END)!"
He says that like it's a bad thing. The people in those countries would be so much better off if we weren't supporting their right wing dictators.

Unfortunately, it may be too late since the drug cartels will likely fill the vacuum.

Perhaps Chrispy could weigh in on this?

.. He’s done exactly what he said he would do.” Marc Thiessen, WPost"
That's not even true. Trump just says it and the cult followers believe.

Mexico is going to build a wall? Nope.

Trump has a plan for better and cheaper health care? Of course he doesn't. Who believed that crap? Republicans.

He won't have time for golf? :sdl:

Ban Muslims from entering the country? Thank goodness he only did a half-assed job on that one.

Bring manufacturing jobs back? Certainly not in the numbers he claimed.

Renegotiate the Iran deal? Nope. Not unless you consider not living up to the US's part of the deal "renegotiating".

He's such a con artist he has people believing and the press repeating how well he's done keeping campaign promises. I believe the tactic is a version of bait and switch.

Since I doubt they asked if they hated black people, I wonder how reliable the "racist leanings" value is. Not that I dounbt that Trump supporters are on average pretty racist.

There are some standard measuring questions on surveys like this. People may not say they hate blacks but they have no problem saying they resent affirmative action even when they are wrong about the effect of it.

This is why we have the emoluments clause. Trump is making statements that look an awful lot like a bribed official protecting a murderer.

I resent affirmative action Ginger. That doesn't mean I don't see it's purpose and effect.

Trump: Crookeder than we thought.
SINCE DONALD TRUMP’S FORTUNES came surging back with the success of “The Apprentice” 14 years ago, his deals have often been scrutinized for the large number of his partners who have ventured to the very edges of the law, and sometimes beyond. Those associates have included accused money launderers, alleged funders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and a felon who slashed someone in the face with a broken margarita glass.

Trump and his company have typically countered by saying they were merely licensing his name on these real estate projects in exchange for a fee. They weren’t the developers or in any way responsible.

But an eight-month investigation by ProPublica and WNYC reveals that the post-millennium Trump business model is different from what has been previously reported. The Trumps were typically way more than mere licensors or bystanders in their often-troubled deals. They were deeply involved in these projects. They helped mislead investors and buyers — and they profited handsomely from it.
