Quite. It is actually beyond belief. I cannot imagine that there isn't anyone much much better qualified that should do that job.

I do wonder why Trump surrounds himself with very close people (family) is not so much because he can trust them, but that these people trust him. I mean he doesn't have to be worried about looking like a moron when he tries to influence policy that is quite outside his sphere of expertise, because they will probably always do what he wants without asking awkward questions, or embarrassing him by resigning or worse still, writing a book about his incompetence's.

When you say that, I think that Venezuela is probably worth mentioning. Especially with regards things like how Trump apparently had to be repeatedly dissuaded by his staff and the meetings with Venezuelan rebels.

Oh the claim that they were paid wasn't a joke. Calling protesters paid has a long, proud history going back to the civil rights movement, of course.

No, the joke was that some were unhappy that they hadn't been paid, despite being promised payment. Trump repeated this uncritically, then people on The_Donald decided it was an incredibly clever tactic on his behalf - because if the protesters say nothing then it's out there that Soros reneges on his agreements and demonstrates the moral failings of the Dimms, but if they dispute it and show their payslips then they're proving that the protesters are paid.

Seems they didn't understand that it was a joke, either.

Now there are only 12 years left -- Global Climate Change
(Science section - although I might have originally chosen Social Issues and Current Events)

Possibly move the pertinent posts there as a lot has been discussed already?
