We can only hope.

In an attempt to put as much as a silver lining as possible on a dark cloud I said waaaaaaaaay back on like page one of the first part of this thread (and for 100% absolute clarity this was before the sexual assault allegations had come out) I was cautiously optimistic... well maybe not optimistic but "This could have been worse"-stic about Kavanaugh because it seemed that Trump had nominate someone for the specific reason that he though Kavanaugh would keep his ass out of the sling which sure as far as bad reasons to nominate a SCOTUS Judge is sure up there, but it might, might not have left us with some super hard core ultra right wing neocon.

And at the time I was still operating under the (waaaay off) opinion that Kavanaugh was a softball pitch to replace the already pretty conservative Kennedy and that the real battle, the one that was gonna get dirty and both sides were gonna dig their heels in on was when it came time to replace Ginsburg.

And I pointed out that of all the branches of government SCOTUS is the one who toes the party line the least and has the most cases of presumably politically "safe" members breaking ranks the most. Both parties have been at least a little bit in the ass by Justices they fought to get on the Court, which is how it should be.

I'm trying to take a step back and determine how much, if any, of that is still possibly true. Far less then I was hoping I'm afraid.

On that note, how many here feel Kavanaugh will help reverse any roe vs wade decision? (when he's stated he wont)

He hasn't said he won't overturn Roe v. Wade. He has said that it is "established law", which is true, but vacuous. It will remain established law only until the day (if ever) that the Supreme Court decides to overturn it.

If you can find any quote from Kavanaugh that he explicitly will not vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, I'd like to see it. Nominees are loathe to give opinions on cases that might come up before them and Kavanaugh was no exception.

I think on a literal "well technically speaking" level Roe V Wade is here to stay.

Republicans aren't trying to overturn Roe V Wade and haven't been for some time, even during the times since Roe V Wade when they held all the power.

They are trying to gut it. To make abortions as inconvenient, guilt ridden, and functionally impossible as possible.

...and you think you can compare your life to someone who had to go deep into debt just to get a shot at the job market?

No have no clue what most people have to do to get by.

They didn't have to do any of that to get a job. They made the choice to get in school, and take those loans, to get a degree in order to have a better opportunity at getting a better job. Period. You do not need any of that to get a job and earn a living or support a family. You do need to work hard, and to try. You cannot be lazy and entitled. (with either of those situations)

Growing up this way made me spend money in much different ways than most. For instance. I buy all my cars with money I save up before hand. I do not leave any balance on credit cards.

These things alone save me a ton of money. Trying to say that its impossible to get by in life without the things you listed, is beyond ridiculous. There are many out there like myself. It's called don't expect the government to take care of you. Take care of yourself, and your family. Meanwhile, theres people here expecting free birth control and or other handouts for optional activities in life. The entitlement attitude of some here is... scary, and sad.

Because the constitution doesn't define when life begins. So each woman's womb becomes a battleground.

People being responsible for themselves is not cruel. It's how you should live your life. Of course your opinion is going to be different.

There are consequences for each action you take in life. Perhaps people should give up the idea of "gimme mah free stuff" and purchase the goods and services they require. Capitalism. It's not for the lazy.

People that are able to work, should. No exceptions.

Teenagers aren't responsible for themselves. You think Kavanaugh was responsible for himself while at private school Gerorgetown Prep, going to parties, beach week and Yale or was it the legacy he was born into? How many teenagers do you know who can afford the $56,665 annual tuition at Georgetown Prep which is more expensive then Yale which is $47,600.
