New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

To be honest, I only found Ford to be approx 800 times more credible than Kavanaugh.
It was especially frustrating to see how the two testimonies were framed.

Ford didn't tell anyone. Surprise no one remembered a party from 36 years ago. And does anyone seriously think Judge would admit something happened he was a part of?

The FBI did not investigate, they padded Kavanaugh's shoddy testimony.

Focus on the sexual assault, no one will notice a SCOTUS candidate lying under oath.

Don't bring in any expert witnesses to talk about all the specific things Kavanaugh did while drinking that all Frat Boys don't do and that suggested his drinking today should be evaluated.

You dislike the idea of one being responsible for their actions or not? A child is a huge responsibility. If you cannot take care of one, do not have them. (or give them to someone that can) Period. I don't really care if you think its unkind. It's best for the child.

It's not just unkind. It's economically stupid for everyone. The costs of raising a child is enormous.

And of course you ignore the simple fact that biological urges drive people particularly teenagers when their hormones are in overdrive and their brains are not fully developed. Would you make a 5 year old responsible for a crime? I doubt it. Someone who is under 18 can't even enter into a financial contract. That's what society thinks about holding them responsible.

I like practical solutions and paying for birth control is by far going away the best thing we can do for society as a whole. It gives people control to choose when and if they want to have children. I can pay pennies for rubbers or thousands to deliver unwanted babies and thousands more to feed them, house them, school them and possibly incarcerate them.

I'd rather pay for minutes of teenage excitement and bliss then pay for years of misery. There is plenty of time for them to learn about responsibility.

No, I have this completely right. A blackout explicitly IS when one loses consciousness/awareness of what they are doing. They might be technically conscious "in the moment".

No. That is not what conscious means. Consciousness does not require the formation of new memories. But that's the distinguishing feature of a blackout. People who are blackout are otherwise as aware as other drunks.

And it is also possible to NOT know that one has blacked out (its happened to me as well).

Sure, it's possible. But lots of people get very drunk without ever having a blackout. For some reason, some people seem susceptible to it and some people don't. It isn't simply a matter of how drunk you get.

I'm not a bible thumper, and not against abortion or birth control. (although late stage abortions should be highly regulated for emergency purposes only IMHO) As long as those funds are not government supported or assisted I'm fine with people being able to have birth control, or abortion services.

Why would you conflate the two? They're not the same. Ideally, birth control services make abortion unnecessary. Birth control is a basic part of women's health care, generally covered by health insurance. If someone gets their health insurance through a government program like Medicaid, do you really think birth control shouldn't be included? Why on earth not?

I'm not quite sure I'm following you here... Are you trying to say based on someones race that they should or should not be removed from a bad home??
I'm asking for you to provide evidence that there are enough loving homes to take in all unwanted children.

Lets say there are not, and by far not enough. Do we leave them in a bad home? Or have child services pick them up? (btw, I'm not arguing that there are not enough homes for babies there are) The dangerous part you are insinuating is that some groups might not be able to abstain, or secure their own birth control and need help to do it. Sex is an optional activity. It's not required by any means, or anyone. There are responsibilities that go with it. Do not make light of those, nor give those things as entitlements. (imho)

ETA we're drifting way off topic here. Will try to get back on.

Collins: I don't think Kavanaugh was Ford's assailant

Seems pretty clear, but I am certain that pedants will pedant for no damn reason

Oh well, maybe we should let the leftists get a win, this weekend has been a bloodbath for them.

Nah!

MAGA!

From other people who were with me I know I didn't do anything out of the ordinary during those periods, so I didn't lose control, but it's all a blank.
I'm pretty sure Kavanaugh has been told by people he trusts that he's done things that he considers out of character, without any memory of it. In a strange way I give him credit for initially trying not to lie about it. Belligerence does not make someone more credible to me but I guess some people disagree.

I don't see the difference between thinking and knowing as a minor detail.

It may be optional, but it is probably the most natural activity one can do. I think it's also flat out wrong to limit that activity to only those who can afford protection It's also unreasonable to expect people to deny their urges. And I noticed you never addressed the economic insanity of your stance. Or the misery it inflicts.

Also, since the thread is about Kavanaugh it is tangentially on topic given his stances on reproductive health issues.

This seems like a delusional statement. (or wants children should be added also) If you cannot protect yourself, or afford kids why are you having sex? Simple action and consequence. Can't be more basic.

And that 12 year old, raped by a relative? Where do you see her responsibility?

Spoken like a male that doesn't understand pregnancy.

Raped victims; in criminal offense cases I personally believe they should have the option of abortion.

Lets try to get back on topic. (also, i'm a single parent probably much to the surprise of some here)

But it is the kind of thing one will blur when lying to themselves or others.

Like claiming 'I don't remember that party' is the same as claiming 'That party never happened'. Or that being 'pressured' to do something is the same as being 'urged' to do something.

It depends on whether removing them is going to make their lives better or worse (and also on available state funding).

(btw, I'm not arguing that there are not enough homes for babies there are)
What is your evidence for the highlighted part? Let's clear up this up, OK? There are orphanages that need to know.

On average, children remain in state care for nearly two years and six percent of children in foster care have languished there for five or more years.

The dangerous part you are insinuating is that some groups might not be able to abstain, or secure their own birth control and need help to do it.
If there was a drug that cost 5 cents a day that would keep people from overeating to the point of dangerous obesity, would you be against Medicaid funding it?

Sex is an optional activity. It's not required by any means, or anyone.
It's nowhere near always optional. And teaching people a lesson is way less important to me than not creating unwanted children.

Pity you never had a chance to provide evidence to back up your claims.
