New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

I know right? Idiots want to read the report before voting on its conclusions.

Pfft. Reading, amiright?

did you seriously not understand my post? Oh man, do you think that all the Dems have a total of 1 hour to read the report?

That is literally amazing.

Oh man, Reading, huh?

Hee hee! :thumbsup::D:thumbsup:

we demand more hearings and an FBI investigation!
gets more hearings and an FBI investigation
the hearings and FBI investigation were a sham!

predictable as the tides...

Yes, it was pretty predictable that the investigation would be a sham.

You would have a point if so many of the relevant issues did not appear to not be investigated and so many pertinent witnesses not stated publicly that they had not been contacted.

So...
Step 1: Predict that investigation will be called a sham.

Step 2: Perform a sham investigation.

Step 3: When called out about it say: "I told you they would say it's a sham!"

Jeff Flake tells us there is no additional corroboration in the fbi file. Agrees with Collins that it was thorough

Aaaand the Democrats are doing it again. The one thing we've heard about the report is that it's over 1000 pages, and they seem to content to read it before weighing in, letting the GOP dominate the headlines with glowing praise for this thing they had no chance of fully digesting either. It really is the party of evil vs the party of stupid.

Dems should have had a bunch of canned "it's crap" sound bites ready to go.

It's painful. I've always thought of it as *ssholes vs weasels.

Weird? It was downright insane.

It was brilliant. It moved the partisanship from the subtext to the text. Now he has to be put on the Supreme Court or the Republicans have lost a point against the Democrats (even though they control the Senate and could nominate any conservative leaning judge and accomplish the exact same thing politically.) He's got the Republicans in full on "You can't tell me what to do. In fact you can't tell me what to do sooooooo much that I'm gonna fight for the thing I'm not even sure I want and certainly couldn't tell you why I want just to show you up."

That entire rant was Kavanaugh looking at the Republicans and going "You hear that? They said you pee sitting down. You gonna take that from them?"

I mean just look at how much noise from the Right, in this thread and in the general public discourse, is essentially cheering that very mentality on?

Kavanaugh is worth fighting for because his very existence tweaks the Dems. That's all they need to know.

Insane? It was masterful.

The “investigation” was directed by the individual assigned to get Kavanaugh confirmed, and was designed to deliver no significant results. But Kavanaugh already had a history of perjury and extreme partisan activism, and further demonstrated emotional immaturity that should automatically disqualify him from a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.

In other words, it should never have come to this sham investigation. He’s a terrible candidate, and it speaks volumes of the corruption, bad faith, and general debasement of today’s GOP that they would promote him.

There are plenty of qualified judges who would interpret law in a sufficiently “right” way (see Gorsuch, Neill), that are otherwise fit to serve. There is no excuse for pushing Kavanaugh, none; no matter where you are on the political spectrum, this is just plain bad - and bad-faith - governance. It’s also shortsighted; if they confirm him, he will be damaged goods and simply drive ever-greater opposition to their agenda and candidates.

Hell even when they're looking for stuff somehow it gets missed. Denny Hastert made it all the way to third in line for the presidency and they didn’t uncover his multiple sexual assaults against kids.

Much like pretending not to see any risk to abortion, Collins sees no problems here either, even before reading it.

Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine did not say that they will vote for Judge Kavanaugh, President Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee. But after a closed-door briefing in which Republicans were told that no witnesses corroborated the accounts of Judge Kavanaugh’s main accusers, both made positive remarks. A yes vote from both would secure Judge Kavanaugh’s seat on the highest court in the land.

“It appears to be a very thorough investigation, but I am going back later today to personally read the interviews,” Ms. Collins said. “That’s really all I have to say right now.”

Mr. Flake told reporters, “We’ve seen no additional corroborating information.”

I'm not sure he thought about it quite that far, though.

I don't think he did either. I think just subconsciously people have learned that's what works.

He essentially screaming "But the other side!" as a reflex.
