New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

sounds like the FBI report is sticking a fork in The Resistance this morning!

:D

No, you dont know what is in the report. Only what the Republicans are saying about it You have NO idea how thorough it was, who specifically ran the investigation or anything in it at all.

I never expected them to be able to prove or disprove this incident. I thought they might be able to prove Kavanaugh's lack of truthfulness. But I doubt they were investigating that.

From the President:
"This is now the 7th. time the FBI has investigated Judge Kavanaugh. If we made it 100, it would still not be good enough for the Obstructionist Democrats."

This might be a part of Kavanaugh's history the FBI will be reluctant to investigate.
Witness intimidation and tampering?
Bad stuff.

That alone should be enough to disqualify him from the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, it won't be.

Anyone who thinks that this investigation is anything but a dog-and-pony show done to appease the protesters and paint over the fact that the GOP intends to confirm Kavanaugh no matter what isn't really paying attention.

If in the highly unlikely event one Republican on the committee does vote against passing the nomination on to the Senate, I fully expect that person to be pilloried by the party. And when (not if) the nomination passes to the full Senate, there will be an intense pressure on the few remaining GOP fence-walkers to conform or be politically destroyed. Especially the women.

That's not poetry. This is poetry. Seth Abramson tweets:

well while Seth is Poet, he is also an admitted fabricator and grossly incompetent "take" peddler on the twitters, who does not seem to understand all the elements of perjury and is the one guy, it seems, that believes Avenatti's stooge of a "client."

Not one not ever, not even as a joke

Lets take a gander: "Swetnick (1 sworn corroborating witness): IGNORED" Hmm, what was her name again?

Hmm, you think that they got together with Obama in 2009 to conspire to cover up the process in 2018?

Because as i have already posted, the rules were set in place in 2009 when the Dems were in charge.

I did, in fact, read that article, and this goes WAY beyond the restrictions that it discussed. In fact, if we go by your interpretation, both Trump and Kavenaugh are in violation for having characterized the earlier FBI investigations.

Actually it doesn't, but add it to the pile of unfounded claims against Trump/BK. maybe the Dems can get another weak week delay out of that too?

Seriously, I have the MOU right in front of me. It doesn't restrict the number of copies, it doesn't limit anyone to 1 hour, doesn't require a SCIF, and doesn't say anything about characterization.

It certainly does limit the number of copies. you kidding? the other ones you posted don't really make sense. case in point. There is not a one hour limit. The two parties are taking one hour turns reading the document, c'mon

Isn't that what both sides are worried about? I tend to think that if Kavanaugh is rejected there could be a backlash against the Democrats as this could stir up the Republican base and if he is confirmed that it will mean trouble for the Republicans.

I think it's even broader and more basic than that.

The Democrats and Republicans had both settled so much into their roles, safe in the idea that they know the other side as well as they knew themselves and safe in the assumption that both sides were largely playing the same game. They got so good of the pantomime wizards duel that we call modern politics that they forget how to play the game any other way.

“The White House has received the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s supplemental background investigation into Judge Kavanaugh, and it is being transmitted to the Senate. With Leader McConnell’s cloture filing, Senators have been given ample time to review this seventh background investigation. This is the last addition to the most comprehensive review of a Supreme Court nominee in history, which includes extensive hearings, multiple committee interviews, over 1,200 questions for the record and over a half million pages of documents. With this additional information, the White House is fully confident the Senate will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.”

– White House Spokesman Raj Shah

Just read through the MOU (thank you for providing the link earlier in the thread).

The MOU prohibits the Senate from making copies.

It does not prevent the FBI from providing the Senate with more than one copy.

Yeah we do. All the time. Like, if you tell me you ate a live baby seal yesterday, I won't believe you even though it's physically possible, and I have no way to probe your mind.

That is choosing to form an opinion. It isn't required as your post implied.

Take me for example. I simply have no opinion on whether and what behavior Kavanaugh has engaged in.

And when someone who doesn't play the game at all came in, they had no idea how to deal with him.

Bob stop it. You were actually conversing like a normal human being for a second. Don't go back down that insipid "I don't understand how people form opinions" rabbit hole.

Yep. The Democrats and Republicans had turned into Varys and Littlefinger, so damn obsessed with second and third guessing the other side and being the most steps ahead of an opponent they didn't notice the thing right in front of them.

So... is Trump a dragon in this analogy, or the night king, or Cersei?

here is a summary from the AP

"No copies will be made of the report, as is standard, so senators will have to go to the room to learn what is in it. And because the report is confidential, they will be expected not to repeat what they learn.

“None of that stuff’s public,” Grassley, R-Iowa, told reporters on Wednesday. “If you want people to be candid when they talk to the FBI, you ain’t going to make that public.”

The rules for keeping investigations confidential and closely held were laid out in an agreement with the governing background checks dating from the Obama administration. It’s unclear whether there will be a public summary of the information, or whether the White House would be allowed to release portions of the report."

Just another storm in a tea cup to give the crumbling Resistance something pointless to complain about. Yeah they got to go to SCIF to read it or to be briefed about it! Whoop de do
