New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

Not exactly.

I watched Mitchell's questioning. I think it was too much. Most of it was just going through each element of Ford's allegation, so that he could say no to it, but it went beyond that.

I suppose there might be some people who would suggest that it was simply anticipation of others' questions. I don't know. I guess you'll have to judge.
I suppose Kav's college roommate's account has been posted? Sorry I can't keep up with 10 pages a day.

Slate: I Was Brett Kavanaugh’s College Roommate
He lied under oath about his drinking and terms in his yearbook.
I do not know if Brett attacked Christine Blasey Ford in high school or if he sexually humiliated Debbie in front of a group of people she thought were her friends. But I can say that he lied under oath. He claimed that he occasionally drank too much but never enough to forget details of the night before, never enough to “black out.” He did, regularly. He said that “boofing” was farting and the “Devil’s Triangle” was a drinking game. “Boofing” and “Devil’s Triangle” are sexual references. I know this because I heard Brett and his friends using these terms on multiple occasions.

I can’t imagine that anyone in the Senate wants to confirm an individual to a lifetime appointment on the United States Supreme Court who has demonstrated a willingness to be untruthful under oath about easily verified information.
If you had any doubts what boofing and the Devil's Triangle were, I think his roommate would know.

And I think we have more than enough reports and references to his drinking to say the evidence is convincing and the denials are not.

The Republicans are in a very bad spot. If they confirm this guy the backlash will be worse than it was with Thomas. In case you didn't know the political backlash after the treatment of Anita Hill's testimony lasted for years.

McConnell is from that era, believing he needs to get this jerk on the court for whatever reason he has, and in denial that Ford's testimony will matter.

Someone should tell him he's going to lose the Senate for sure if Kav is confirmed. I can see the ads now, 'voted to confirm a man that lied under oath multiple times to the SCOTUS', or some version thereof.

Another post to Jim Hoft's garbage site? THey're not what you'd call reliable - thus Hoft's mantle "Dumbest Man on the Internet".

"Capitol Police arrest man suspected of 'doxing' lawmakers during Kavanaugh testimony."
-- CNN (Oct 3, 2018)

Now that exceedingly impartial and completely reliable CNN is reporting the story, it must be true.

Say, how'd the original Daily Smear article work out for you? That was you, wasn't it; promoting the slander that this was someone on Maxine Waters' staff?

(I know, I know, they all look alike.)

If the guy violated the law(s*) he should be prosecuted. If it can be determined that he did it at the behest of the Congressperson then she should hopefully be voted out of office.

*Although it remains to be seen what law he's actually broken and will ultimately be charged with. The Capital Police seem to have listed Identity Theft, Being Naughty, Using the Internet for Nefarious Purposes, and all sorts of other goodies. Just how much doxxing is involved in providing the personal contact information to public individuals? Surely thousands of people have that info.

I fear that confirming Kavanaugh would energize Trump voters, simply because "Liberals" don't want him.
If it pisses off the "Left", it must be the right thing to do.

Now that the whole Russian collusion narrative has all but vanished, maybe Robert Mueller can spearhead a two-year investigation into "Boofing-Gate."

I don't. I fear that not confirming Kavanaugh might wake some distant wing of the MRA Beer Pong Non-Partisans but the Trump voters who are actually going to get out there and support candidates are already quite committed. (Har har, maybe they can get an out-patient pass from Shady Acres Sanitarium.)

Seriously, politicos have been discussing whether it is best to win or lose this battle. The "neutral" voices are for sticking to it on moral principles. (Or amoral principles in the case of the GOP pre-decided support Senators.)

The pragmatic political discussion is which would hurt what party more.

A Kavanaugh approval probably gets Trumpettes who don't care about the off-year elections staying home. They'll have some beer (but not black out) and celebrate their victory. A Kavanaugh defeat probably mobilizes them in a paroxysm of pearl-clutching outrage.

At the same time, approval probably motivates even more WWE (women with education) which already hurts Trump and the GOP, and let's not limit it to women... Trump doesn't do well with the educated... period. I can see major shifts in suburban territory (like the By-Election in Columbus last month) away from the GOP. This ain't Anita Hill accusing a boss/co-worker of lewd behavior. This is a much more serious series of accusations. Dems are already motivated. A Kavanaugh approval would motivate them more so.

I would never make the argument that Democrats shouldn't stop Kavanaugh, if they can, because it might favor them strategically in the upcoming elections to have an arch-conservative on the Supreme Court:
Kavanaugh might sit on the Court for 30+ years! Compared to that, who cares about the next 2-3 elections?

If you think it doesn't matter that she lied in her affidavit on all the hard accusations, you are missing the point.

Then all the more reason to investigate. But as far as I know the FBI has been ordered to steer clear. And clear of Ford. And clear of Kav. And clear of at least 40 others. Why do you think that is?

After this is over (whether Kav is confirmed or not), do you think Kav will--or at least have a basis to--request an investigation into false allegations, or file charges?

Do you think The Rs will make good on their threat to investigate their fellow committee Ds about their "sitting on" Ford's letter?

PBS Frontline just did an expose last night on that whole "Russian Thing". Dovetails nicely with this:

Have you checked out "Active Measures". yet?

An alternate link (just in case):

Check it out. Go ahead, I dare ya'.

I wonder what mind-bobbling nuthead reason they are going to have for such a restricted reading?

It does not matter much, as, despite what the Whitehouse and GOP said, the investigation was restricted and unable to interview many of the people involved.

A running list of everyone the FBI has interviewed in the Kavanaugh investigation so far

For security reasons they will be using the unhackable typewriter. Unfortunately it is really hard to get carbon paper nowadays so there will just be the one carbon copy for the files. Just hope they remember to burn the typewriter ribbon.

For a non USAian can someone explain; does the US not have freedom of speech? How can publishing politicians telephone numbers be a crime? Or did he go further and incite people to attack the politicians?
