New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

It's funny. My main source of news starts with news.google.com. I can tell the source just by looking at the headline.

"Source reveals new questions about Kavanaugh" - CNN or New York Times.
"Letter Refutes Ford's Story" - Fox News.

You don't even have to look.

(As an aside, those headlines are typical samples, not exact quotes.)

But I clicked on one of the Fox News stories about a new letter. It was the one from the ex-boyfriend. It was just plain "Let's trash her reputation stuff." He said Ford spent money on his credit cards after they broke up or something. After one announcer read off a litany of ex-boyfriend accusations, the second person on the panel said, "I think the message is that two can play at this game..."

He said it like he was proud. Yes, indeed, he was playing the same game as "them".

What a country. U.....S.....A!

Yes it is, see below.

And who has had a drinking problem for decades and might still have a drinking problem.

Still keeping this rationalization up I see. Put any old ******* on the SCOTUS bench, the Democrats pissed me off.

And it pops up again and again in a lot of the stories about Kav. Did you see the letter he wrote in college where he said:See below. I believe the NYTs got a copy of the letter and printed it.

Democracy Now! had an interesting piece this morning. The same highly credentialed psychiatrists who wrote a book on Trump's Narcissistic Personality Disorder looked at the Kavanaugh hearing and said he has all the signs of an ongoing alcoholic, not one that no longer drinks to excess.

Mental Health Experts Demand Psychological Assessment of Kavanaugh for Drinking, Instability

There is both the transcript and free streaming of the piece at the site. It was uplifting for me, being the foolish optimist until all is lost, to hear the voices with evidence against Kavanaugh getting louder and louder. We still only need one or two Republicans to stand up to the swindle that is McConnell's plan.

Yay! Just what we need to inject into the conversation: unethical medical opinions!

BREAKING: Capitol Police Arrest 27-Year-Old Democrat Staffer Jackson Cosko For Doxxing 3 GOP Senators

"Capitol Police arrested 27-year-old Jackson Cosko of DC for allegedly posting private, identifying information (doxxing) about one or more United States Senators.

"Shortly after Lindsey Graham went off on Senate Democrats for destroying Kavanaugh’s life in order to derail his confirmation, Republicans were doxxed.

"The victims included Republican Senators Mike Lee, Orrin Hatch and Lindsey Graham, reported the Washington Times.

"Jackson Cosko worked for Dem Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee."

Sickening people would do this. I hope at some point people realize this type of rhetoric is extremely toxic.

Thanks for posting that link. The comments section was the funniest thing I read all day. All the comments were quite obviously written by mouth breathers with personal prison experience. Just the types that Trump would appeal to.

Jackson is gonna have that same personal prison experience shortly.

Give me a source for this term. Find the one that best fits your argument.

I haven't looked it up on Wikipedia, but I'll bet it's there. Use that one.

As an aside, I heard Alan Derschowitz (sp?) talking about it a lot as a talking head on CNN and elsewhere, but that was about a different case. Yeah, those darned right wingers are making stuff up all the time.

It's a scary thing that, these days, Dershowitz doesn't fit with either party. He's a liberal. A real one.

Another post to Jim Hoft's garbage site? THey're not what you'd call reliable - thus Hoft's mantle "Dumbest Man on the Internet".

Final countdown:

Late Wednesday evening, McConnell filed cloture, an action that moves the Senate closer to a confirmation vote, though a final vote would not take place until Saturday at the earliest.

Senate Republicans now need a simple majority for a vote to end debate on the nomination, which is expected to take place on Friday. If Republican lawmakers clear that hurdle, the Senate can then advance to a final confirmation vote on Kavanaugh's nomination.

Linky.

Interesting words from Sasse:

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska gave an impassioned speech on sexual assault and the #MeToo movement on the Senate floor Wednesday night.

Sasse also dropped a bombshell about where he stands on Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s second nominee to the Supreme Court.

“I urged the president to nominate a different individual. I urged the president to nominate a woman,” Sasse said.

He recounted the experiences of two personal friends he said were raped, adding that the #MeToo movement has been “complicated,” but also a “very good thing.”

And then Sasse turned back to Trump: “We all know that the president cannot lead us through this time.”

Linky.

I anticipate the swing Democrats, like Manchin, will go whichever way the swing Republicans go. I still think Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

I read both that one and the Wikipedia entry. Neither one supports your case. From Popehat:

it's when the government subpoenas you to the grand jury not to gather evidence, but to catch you in perjury and prosecute you for it.

That's not happening here. There is no grand jury, and the prospect that Kavanaugh will be prosecuted for anything he says is downright laughable.

Let's just be real for a moment: You really want to accuse someone of doing something bad, but you can't actually bother to look up the term that is central to the accusation. There is a very clear disparity between your passion and your effort. If you're not willing to make the most basic defense of your argument when presented with the simplest of challenges, you need to concede it.

This email had me laughing. Quite fitting for creepy porn lawyer.

I see this differently, and I don't find this at all funny

For mine, it is Mike "We Will Confirm Kavanaugh Even if he is Proved to be a Serial Rapist" Davis making it very clear to the world that he is simply not interested in knowing the truth.

I find it very sad that in a world which is recognizing that a rape culture exists in Society, and is moving towards a time when such behaviour becomes rare, that the USA is moving full speed backwards towards the days of "Good Ol' Boys" and turning a blind eye to Frat Boy Rape Parties . Even more sad is that when the leader of the country ruthlessly mocks the victim of an attempted rape, his moronic base cheer him on for it.

This is just grotesque.

"Capitol Police arrest man suspected of 'doxing' lawmakers during Kavanaugh testimony."
-- CNN (Oct 3, 2018)

Now that exceedingly impartial and completely reliable CNN is reporting the story, it must be true.

Jim Hoft didn't earn his reputation of being the stupidest man on the internet by accident. I mean he was busted attempting to pass off a photograph of the crowds at the Cleveland Cavaliers victory parade as crowds at a Trump rally.

Did you compare Swetnicks affidavit with her TV interview? If not perhaps you should before making such ignorant statements.
