New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

Your post was mocked for saying something that it didn't actually say by a person who claims not to be a Trump supporter that happens to support everything Trump does.

Thank you. I know that no one makes sense all the time, but the non-sense I see from some on the right is stunning, even given a difference in goals, values, etc.

Our emotions drive us, including our thinking, and it’s difficult to stop and think logically.

I'm afraid of flying, and won't be able to fly there. We will need to delay a few more days. (then i fly there and its discovered i fly all the time for pleasure and work) Same thing? Explain.

I'm afraid of flying and had to do so for work plenty of time. I've even flown for vacation. I don't think this phenomena is limited to me and Ford.

I work with a guy that is afraid of heights, and he was in the Airborne Rangers, was afraid of heights before his service and still is today.

Do you understand understand the link between honesty and innocence now?

What behavior by the Democrats' lawyers need to be investigated? Their due diligence? Are you talking about the story made up by Lindsey Graham?

Because Ford said in her testimony she was not informed the committee offered to travel to her and take a statement from her privately in order to keep her confidentiality.

The 2 button struggle meme, with the options of "craft strawman" and "actually listen," except instead of a struggle it's River slamming the first one like a battering ram.

Ah, maybe we can pin some unsolved murders on him while we are at it...

Ok, that was a joke but c’mon, that’s pretty weak.
If he'd killed someone I might have more respect for him. Sort of a Robert Oppenheimer figure (per a NYT book review)

During a year abroad from Harvard to study at Cambridge University, Oppenheimer confessed to putting a poisoned apple on his tutor’s desk. The truth of the matter remains murky, but it was serious enough that Oppenheimer’s father intervened with university officials, promising his son would keep regular appointments with a London psychiatrist. When the school term ended the boy was taken away by his parents on a “recuperative holiday” to France, where, in Paris, he locked his mother in a hotel room.

But then, Oppenheimer was a genius who eventually made a critical contribution to his country. Kavanaugh, I really doubt he's going to distinguish himself.

Who are the FBI reporting to? Surely not to the president? Is it to Congress? Why wouldn't they just publish their conclusions?

Again, what sort of system is it that means the president, and the president alone, gets to ask the FBI to do this work?....
A dangerous system as we are finding out.

...I have wondered exactly what they will release, and how, and I really have no idea. They do not ordinarily reach conclusions as such. They usually gather data and present it to the decision making body, prosecutors or in this case the Judiciary Committee of the Senate.

My hunch is that they will make their interviews, summarize it in a report, and present both the report and the contents of the interviews in a confidential document provided to the committee. The committee will review the material and leak the juicy parts.
Fortunately the press is hot on the FBI's tail reporting what they are finding.

...And for all the sanctimonious blather going around about perjury, just as it was 20 years ago with Mr. Clinton, not every lie told under oath is perjury, and not every instance of perjury would be prosecuted. There are plenty of cases where acts that are, technically, crimes, but in reality no one is ever prosecuted for. (This is similar to mishandling classified documents. If everyone who mishandled classified matter were prosecuted, the jails would be overflowing with aerospace engineers, but in reality, most cases are not treated as crimes, despite what you might have heard in the last few years.)

If evidence were uncovered that showed Brett Kavanaugh lied about sexually assaulting women, I would not be surprised if he were impeached, and possibly even prosecuted after being removed from the bench. If Brett Kavanaugh lied about drinking, there is no way he would be convicted in the Senate, and if somehow the case ended up as a criminal prosecution, any conviction would be thrown out as an unconstitutional instance of politically motivated selective prosecution.

The sanctimony is strong in this case, but in reality no one would ever under any circumstances be prosecuted for lying about the meaning of "boof" in their high school yearbook.
Kav had a consistent pattern of lying about his younger days. No matter how you look at it, the bottom line is, lying in your job interview almost always disqualifies the candidate.

Are you still blaming the Democrats for asking poor widdle supposed to be big enough to handle such a situation Kavanaugh mean old questions?

You are lacking data on functional alcoholics: drug and alcohol abuse is unusually common in top professionals.
Kavanaugh might still be a heavy drinker as long as he knows when to be sober.
Probably more than half of those Senators have their own drinking problems.

Hey guys, don't ever get drunk enough to pass out in your life. If you do, you're automatically implicated in dirty deeds. Don't do it!

No, No, No! Don't ever get drunk enough to blackout. There's a subtle difference there.

Just enough to pass the elections eh? Convenient.

The means the Trump opposition used are lawful though certainly dishonest and most definitely fall into the "dirty tricks" category. I heartily approve. This sick freak is a Trump nominee; that justifies anything the law allows. No rule of honor or decency can apply when attempting to thwart Trump.

Remember that when you get a taste of it in return.

WTF are you talking about?! Trump and the GOP fight dirty all of the time. They do it so much that the current conspiracy is that Ford's allegations are just payback for the garbage they pulled with Merrick Garland. This conspiracy is floated from the GOP.

You don't get to cry foul when a person punches you in the face after you've been kicking them in the balls.
