What I don't get is why the Republicans are protecting this turd. Are you telling me they cant find some other person who will side with the rich over everyday people who isn't a hateful sexist pig?

McConnell might very well be afraid if he doesn't get Kavanaugh through, he is going to get his comeuppance when the GOP loses the Senate. It's Kavanaugh or no nominee floor vote until 2020.

And much as the news media is echoing a change in the Senate is unlikely, 538's latest polls suggest otherwise.

And now these idiots are going and pissing women off even more just before the election.

You're reading more into it than is there out of desperation. They got the permits in 2008. That doesn't mean they began remodeling right away. 2008 could also mean Dec. 2008. Ford said the "Extensive remodeling" was completed in 2012. Some remodeling can take a year or more depending on how much is being done and if they took periods off in-between projects.

A story about it from an apparently legit source.
Permits from 2008 show that Ford and her husband renovated their Eichler-style house in south Palo Alto’s Greenmeadow neighborhood to include an exit door in the master bedroom.

Does a building permit expire? How long can you hold the permit before you have to start work, if at all? And once you start, how much time do you have to finish? And who says this was the only permit they obtained? What's most significant is that she really did want two escape routes from her bedroom.

Here is how this FBI week can go sour.

If the FBI only looks for evidence that supports Kavanaugh, like interviewing his friends and none of the people that might be more neutral.

If they do a piss-poor superficial investigation.

If they do the white-male-cop version and start with the assumption Ford is lying.

I suspect someone told Trump that if he didn't go along with more investigation of Kavanaugh Trump would pay for it in November.

The PDJT re: Ford -- "She was very credible."
The PDJT re: Kavanaugh -- "He gave incredible testimony."

I caught that too. A Freudian slip? In case the common useage of "incredible" has deprecated its fuller meaning, in a fashion it also means not credible.

And in any way you look at it, incredible indeed! Some over the top, snarling, CT level stuff. And disrespectfully dismissive with his job interviewers. Perjury and potential criminal acts aside, that crap alone should have him stuffed back in his present position. Perjury should have him disbarred, or censured with his "gold standard" ABA rating hacked back a level or two.

"How long is a building permit good for? California Building Code Section 106.4.4 states …Every permit issued by the building official under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days.

"How do I continue my project if my permit has expired? Before work can be recommenced, a new permit shall be first obtained to do so."

But here's the thing they still have 3 months to get their nomination approved before the next Senate is sworn in. So the election is irrelevant. That is if they send him packing now. The problem only gets more acute if they wait.

Very interesting. But it looks like as long as you're making progress, it's good pretty much forever.
The only way the Building Department follows the progress of a job is through its inspection
records. As long as we perform an inspection less than every 180 days, your permit will remain valid. If your 180 day period is coming due, even if you’re not completely ready for an
inspection, call for an inspection so that we can establish that substantial progress is being
made.

That's still a gamble. Pushing Kavanaugh through wouldn't be.

^ This guy would prefer to have the FBI investigate if Ford ever tore the tag off of a mattress.

It really isn't much of a gamble. And there is a 60 plus percent chance they hold on to the Senate. Are you telling me the Republicans don't have a half dozen suitable candidates on the shelf right this moment?

Christine Ford's bank records would show payment to the contractor who installed the escape door in her house. She gave testimony under oath that the work was done in 2012, and then she subsequently had to attend marriage counseling over the episode.

If it turns out the work was done in 2008, she committed perjury.

Do you believe that Kavanaugh was completely honest in his testimony Thursday?

Therefore Kavanaugh..... (Slings and Arrows, please complete this sentence)

This FBI investigation should look into whether or not K committed perjury by interviewing:

1. Mark Judge regarding who 'Bart O'Kavanaugh' really was, whether K was one the the 'other boys' who engaged in having sex with the drunk woman that Judge described to Rasor, what the 'Renate Alumnius' really was, what 'ralphing', 'devil's triangle' and 'boofing' were, and whether he knows of any times that K could not remember events due to being drunk.

The following should also be interviewed:

Elizabeth Rasor
Ramirez and corroborating witnesses
Swetnick and corroborating witnesses
Brooks (who called into Chris Cuomo's show)
PJ Smyth

The FBI should also interview other classmates who may have chosen not to come forward but who would have first hand knowledge of Kavanaugh during high school and at Yale.

I'm sure they'll know who to interview. They'll interview all of those, and plenty of others that you've never heard of, including Ms. Ford and several of her high school friends.

Her memory might be hazy, but even after three decades, it won't be too hard to figure out where that party was, if it happened.

I wonder if they'll interview Neil Gorsuch. He would have some knowledge of the Georgetown Prep social scene, and would be the same age as Ford, although rumor has it that Gorsuch was not a partier.

This is the kind of thing I feared about extending the investigation. Look into every nook and cranny to find anything at all, and yell "Perjury!" a lot.

But, they will look into that, and it will be a trivial exercise to find out when it was done, and if it was indeed done in 2008, that will raise a red flag, but the FBI does this stuff for a living. They'll figure out if it's significant.

Are you saying that both attended the SAME Prep school? Seriously?

Lied under oath, you mean? But no matter, sometimes that's okay for a judge?

It was ok for a president, and I mean that for real. It really was ok for a president. As I heard Bill Maher express it, "The American people decided Ken Starr's questions were worse than Bill Clinton's lies."

On the rape allegations, people wouldn't feel that way, but if it turns out there's no evidence of sexual assault, but the Democrats try to make a big deal about some equivocation about his level of intoxication, no one is going to give a hoot. The people who claim to be totally outraged will be universally people who think there's a constitutional right to abortion.

If you were hiring someone to operate a cash register at your hypothetical store, would you still hire them if you were fairly certain they had lied in the interview?
