Chickens can swim, if properly motivated with sufficiently large athletic goods sponsorships. My great grandfather's farm had a chicken named Belle, who swam 500 meter races when sponsored by (and under the influence of) Goodman's Olde Tyme Whisky. Sadly Belle lost her life during an ill conceived raid against encroaching Mormon settlers. At least she was spared the indignity of being eaten, as her captors' distaste for alcohol precluded them from consuming her liquor-infused flesh. The incident indirectly led to the Panic of 1876, as that chicken has powerful financial interests and was a firm believer in Free Silver.
