So the witnesses have already testified under oath. Now what?

Mitch McConnell: "So all the witnesses that Dr. Ford says were present at the party have told the committee on the record — under penalty of felony — they do not remember any such party, do not know Kavanaugh, or have never seen him do anything remotely like has been alleged."

Because very often cops don't treat sexual assault the way they treat other crimes, and because they don't treat victims of sexual assault the way they treat victims of other crimes, and because women and especially young girls are too embarrassed and ashamed and traumatized to tell cops in the first place. Try to educate yourself.

Nonsense. If they had gone to their local police they would be 30 or more years into the investigation. They also would have known the location of the parties, who was there, what year it was, the exact date and time, and witnesses could have been questioned, along with the accused. This is assuming these crimes actually happened (which I seriously doubt based on the extremely wobbly evidence), and that is something we will now never know.

Oh, I still don't think Ford will show up, even more so now that her "witnesses" say there was no such party as she described. I also am very disappointed that so many "liberals" now are advocating the presumption of guilt, especially since the accusers only recall Kavanaugh, the bad conduct they've accused him of, and nothing else that would allow an actual investigation. They can never prove Kavanaugh was with them in the same place at the same time, so they have no cases. Too late for that. All they can do now is slime him while it is impossible for him to have an alibi for unknown dates and times.

So when women are sexually assaulted, your suggestion is they do nothing about it? Is that what you would recommend to your daughter if she came home and said she had just been sexually assaulted? How does the bad guy end up in jail with that philosophy?

Kavanaugh's defense is "I was a virgin in Highschool".
In other words, he was constantly horny and desperate to score.

Go back and read how the Anita Hill accusation was confidential until it leaked....AFTER the White House had authorized the FBI to investigate and add to their background of Clarence Thomas.
Affidavit done in mid September.
FBI investigation complete Sept 27, 1991.
Outing of her accusations in the news on Oct. 6.
Her story was known to senators when they voted to send confirmation to the full senate (thought the lead democrat initially said he had not seen it). Biden made sure they all knew and took back documents after they were shared to keep it confidential in respect to Anita Hill's wish to remain private.

Feinstein surely knew that she could have asked for and presented an affidavit to the committee and the committee could have then agreed to further background investigation by the FBI, as they had done before. But she did not do that. She waited on it until nearly the last possible moment. Even then, she would not immediately share the letter.with the other senators.

Ford would have written the letter for the same reason Hill gave her testimony....for the judicial committee to have the info, but to remain anonymous to the public. But Feinstein did not share it in confidential quarters, even though she had no idea at the time if it could be corroborated or not.
. (the Hill leak came as she tried to find out if the committee had seen her affidavit before their initial vote. Her message had passed to too many people)

If Ford has valid information on the candidate that would have changed the nomination process, then she has been used and abused by Feinstein for political theater. There was clearly another, earlier, and much more private way to handle it.
 
Yeah! Let's keep Supreme Court confirmation proceedings secret, where abuse won't occur and the citizens served by the Congress and the Court won't be unduly upset!

That's not being suggested at all. You asked WHY she didn't go to the police. I assume you live under a cabbage leaf and have not read the thousands upon thousands of pages that have been written on the topic of unreported sexual advances, sexual assaults and rape. The poster was merely answering your question. The "why" is known.

Now if you'd like to go start an open discussion on whether or not women SHOULD report such behavior, I'm sure you'll find pretty few participants who take the negative side of said debate.

In short, the fact that it was unreported offers zero evidence of anything. And had she reported it and the local cops as they typically do ignored it? Y'all would be saying, "See? This was proved a lie thirty years ago!" Don't give me that crap that if she'd reported it you''d be more prone to believing her. You'd be finding something else to hand-wave it away.

The FBI report is secret. The affadavits of potential sexual assault victims can also be secret. to the committee, unless they decide to go public. The actual confirmation process by the Senate after that is, of course, public.

Going public with just the allegation when it's been known for months is irresponsible to the process and also unfair to the potential victim. I would literally vomit if this happened to me as a victimwho wanted to remain private.
Do you think Feinstein had good reason to WAIT to ask for an affadavit or FBI background on this back in July?

There are people who tell the truth, people who lie, and people who misjudge or get it completeely wrong in their own minds. Who are you calling the victim here? How do you know who it is?

eta: In other words...how did you determine which side to pick in this 36yo he said/she said story with no corroboration? Do you not think it is possible for both sides to believe their own truths? Or either side to lie to acheive some end result?

It may be helpful to know I am a woman who has been assaulted by drunken scumbags on occasion. They often sound like YOU. Go ahead and prove your case. I'll wait.

I'm sure you are waiting for evidence, right?
