2018 mid-term election

It's amazing how many on the left have never been to Venezuela.

"I've got two tickets to paradise,
Won't you pack your bags, we'll leave tonight."
-- Eddie Money

It's amazing how many on the right have never actually lived under the sort of government you're supporting. Come on over, I've seen the Trump End Game first hand.

I have a simple request.

Can any candidate for any office tell me anything about themselves beyond how pro or anti Trump they are?

It's literally the only information any candidate for anything is telling people about themselves.

Trump has become the issue, for better or for worse.

I haven't heard a Beto O'Rourke ad mention the word Trump once.

I think it is intentional. And smart.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) said Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) re-election campaign did not violate any regulations when it sent out a fundraising letter designed to look like a legal summons.
A new regulation seems to be in order.

What I really want to know is...how is that effective?

If my (awesome) congressman were to send one of those to me, I'd hate him for forever. Everybody would. He'd be done. WTF is going on with Republicans?

Previous Cruz methods:

Mr. Cruz’s 2016 presidential campaign had a reputation for engaging in dirty tricks. One of them was a letter he sent to Iowa voters before that state’s Republican caucuses — which Mr. Cruz won — notifying them of nonexistent “voting violations.”

The letter said the recipient had a record of voting infrequently, which is not a violation, and included the names of the recipient and their neighbors alongside a “score” based on their turnout record. It said they could improve their score by voting in the caucuses and warned that “a follow-up notice may be issued” after the caucuses were finished.

That kind of social pressure can be effective in boosting turnout, according to an influential 2008 study by the political scientists Alan S. Gerber, Donald P. Green and Christopher W. Larimer.

Linky.

Rep. Collins, who is accused of insider trading, is stuck on the ballot for Republicans. But it only moves from "leans" to "likely" Republican.

I'm not sure if you read that wrong or wrote it wrong, but what the article actually says is;

The legal damage would likely make nonpartisan election handicapper Sabato's Crystal Ball move its rating for the race to "leans" Republican from "likely" GOP, the site's managing editor, Kyle Kondik, said Monday.

A small difference, two words in different places. But still quite significant.
