Having established that his benign attitude towards White Supremacists and other racists and bigots has only strengthened his support within his base, he has no real reason to stop.

As I discussed with Bob earlier, it could be argued that he failed to protect our nation from Russian attacks on our Democratic institutions, or respond forcefully to such attacks.

If these new accounts are to be believed, any action against Russia was taken by people under him, against his wishes.

He knew exactly who David Duke was; why deny it? A lot of people say it's because he wanted the white supremacist vote.

I do not know with how much humor you intended this sentence, but it certainly is true (in the traditional sense of the world) in the Trump world of politics. I might go even further to suggest that perception is everything even after "we" actually know whether it is truth or not. "We" being those, apparently in the minority among the USA voting public, who do still care if something is true or not.

If "You cannot reason someone out of something he or she was not reasoned into." is accurate, then perception (hopefully based on logic and truth) is indeed necessary to do so.
