NY Times editorial bombshell

But for someone on Dolt45's cabinet, or a senior congressional advisor, what do you do, right now? When even if you invoke the 25th, the senate is too cowardly to reach the obvious conclusion that the US president is unfit for duty?

Why not resign and go public?

Why not resign and go public?

It’s pointless. Republicans in Congress and those who voted for them want and expect a one-party dictatorship. They are doing everything they can to achieve it.

There are only very unpleasant solutions for those who wish to retain a Republic of any kind.

"It's pointless" is not an argument against following the law (or what's surely the law, since they took an oath to fulfill their duties of office).

Sounds like a reasonable idea since the other party has declared it is no longer the traditional loyal opposition, but the "Resistance".

I'd imagine that step one would be to identify who they actually are. So...who are they?

They are the same people who wrote the anonymous NYT op-ed: James Comey, Sally Yates, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, John Brennen, Bruce Ohr, Andrew McCabe, James Clapper, Christopher Steele, John Podesta, Lanny Davis and Hillary Clinton.

You know, the usual suspects.

The Republican op-ed writer, no less.

If you know memes on twitter, the opinion writer(s) will immediately evoke the "This is Fine" Dog. Dolt 45 doesn't trust anyone connected to Obama, because Obama is respected and black, and Dolt 45 is a white supremacist so he hates that entire idea.

In truth, none of this is sensible - so we need to discuss passions. Dolt 45 hates everyone who isn't a wealthy white man who he aspires to hobnob with, the GOP is similar in practice, and as to who wrote this opinion piece, who really cares? It's not important.

Again, the way it's supposed to work is that cabinet members give the president advise and council. A smart president will listen when he has a thought, and the resident expert says "Here's why that's a stupid idea that will not work." And at the very least, we should expect that (s)he'll be upset, but trust the advise when it's time to decide. And it's possible that every choice has a potential downside. In fact, the easy decisions are the ones that the president shouldn't be bothered with - those choices can be made by other people.

And if the president is completely incapable of taking "your idea is stupid, here's why it'll make things worse" as advise, then it's up to the congress to say "Yep, he's incapable, toss him out". They are supposed to get rid of him (or her).

Our problem is, the US president is incapable, and our GOP-led congress is okay with it. In the long term, "they all go down in disgrace" is he only viable option. Yes, the problem is he is a weak and not smart, and is surrounded by a staff that is out of control. I guess we shouldn't have elected him, you think?

Fire who? He doesn't even remember his orders to start a war weren't followed.

Isn't it more likely that he does remember and that this is the way he's been 'handling' things all his life?
That he always surrounded himself with advisers to take care of things for him, to follow his whims when it was is his (and their) best interest and 'forget' about them when it wasn't? Guys like Roy Cohn who were actually the ones who ran the show but were devious enough to know to let him take credit for the successes and blame the failures on everybody else ...

Neither the author nor the NYT claimed that the author was a Republican. That may well be the case, but we don't actually know that.

Yes, they did, even though they didn't use those exact words.

That's some next-level CTing. Congrats. I'm genuinely impressed.

Hillary Clinton and Christopher Steele wrote the op-ed.

According to the reports, when he does remember he gets very angry and rails against people. That doesn't sound like he's happy to delegate things. That sounds like he's incompetent.
