I wonder what anonymous meant. or thought he meant, by his comments about sabotaging the Trump plans. (I don't remember if he actually used the word "sabotage". Whatever he said that he and his fellow conspirators were up to.)
That was more of a Steve Bannon talking point, when he wasn't busy trying to shove white nationalism into the mainstream.
A lot of people have made a great deal of fuss about this, saying that it makes his administration illegitimate, or something. Elizabeth Warren has said it's time to think about the 25th amendment, because he clearly can't discharge his duties if the administration is working against him. However, what does it actually mean?
Hold it. What she actually said is that they should invoke the 25th amendment if the opinion piece were correct - ie. if the senior officials around Trump agree that he is entirely unable to perform his basic function as president.
And that's the point here - if the Joint Chiefs are simply going to ignore his direct orders, if his cabinet members are simply going to take documents off of his desk, and then give them to some journalist as proof of how far they have to go, and this is what they think they must do simply to keep him from destroying the country, then their constitutional duty is to begin the process of removing him from office entirely.
(Again, I think that the entire GOP failed when they decided to actually nominate him for the presidency , as he was clearly nothing more than a dimwitted, mobbed up, rapey, white supremacist, malignant narcissist con man who couldn't be left to run a Panera Bread for a few off-peak hours. Puts the cabinet in a tough spot, since the GOP has decided "We'll let this open racism and wrecking our reputation to ride, our money will be fine. Yay, tax cuts and oppressing women and nonwhite people!")
I'm still looking for the significance of this whole story. CNN spent a lot of time on it last night, and I'm going to the gym again tonight, so I might see more about it tonight, but I'm just getting more and more confused about what the big deal is. Someone in the administration thinks Trump is a doofus? Well, yeah. Lots of people do. I think it was Tillerson who called him a moron. He's not the only one who has been in the cabinet that thinks that. I'm pretty confident that in their heart of hearts, most of his cabinet knows he's a bizarre person, with some major psychological issues, and I'll bet they all wish someone else had won the Republican nomination. So what? He got elected. It's the law. Maybe we can get rid of him in two more years, or maybe someone will dig up some real dirt and we can do it sooner, but for now, he's the guy in charge. What's the big deal in someone saying they aren't happy about it?
Or maybe he'll cause a complete planetwide catastrophic war. Or, this could come to a head when he tries to toss his perceived enemies in jail, or tries to attack every Latinx US citizen, or causes the entire rest of the world to decide that the US cannot be the global currency.
I see it as insignificant, but only because Dolt 45 is who I thought he was. It's basically the latest scientist to conclude that yes, we are affecting the earth's climate. Yes, I know that already.
And I've lost a lot of respect for Warren because she went down that path.
I see no lies in what she said.
